Plus Playtime QAL: Row 1 Construction

My apologies for being late with this post. You can find the ezine issue with this pattern by going to Sew in Love With Fabric where you will find the newest issue, and can scroll back to January for the one that my quilt is in.

This week we are making the three blocks for row one. Follow the diagrams in the pattern in the ezine to make Block 1. Remember that you construct the blocks in columns. Below you see segments two and three using this method:

Sorry I didn't get the measurements on segment 3, but to be honest, I've forgotten how I did all those nifty diagrams, and will need to wrap my head around it all again this coming week. I must admit it looks pretty professional and am rather amazed I actually did that. I'm still feeling in a bit of a fog.

Block 1

Block 2
Note that this block uses the large shadow plus fabric as your background.

Block 3
Regular background fabric here.

A tip on pressing

Within each block, press all horizontal seams for columns one, three and five down. Press all seams for columns two, four and six up. This ensures that in the few places where seams do nest, you can butt them up against each other for a crisp line. Alternatively, you may choose to press all your seams open.

For row 1, be sure to press all your vertical seams to the right so that when you join the three rows, all seams butt up against each other, or nest together nicely!

Here are my first three blocks for row one:

Like the Lays potato chips people say, "Betcha can't eat just one!" and I betcha can't make just one .... block, or row!

See you next Tuesday for row 2.

Thank you for your understanding, and that not one of you wrote to me asking where the instructions were; that, as well as all the heartfelt comments on my previous post, have touched my heart, and meant more than you know. Care and compassion isn't really that hard to give but the comfort those two acts provide resonates so deeply, and makes me feel like my heart has had a hug from all of you. So I thank you so very much.

  6. Nice to be reading your blog on this sunny Sunday morning. Love this plus quilt. I have tried a couple of times to get the pattern but am unable to. Think there is a problem here.....the problem is between the computer and the chair. Enjoy your Sunday, Sandra.

  8. Oh, Sandra, so many of us have been where you are. Each of has a story similar to, yet different from, yours. We are all pretty independent quilters and will figure it out and you can take all the time you need to work with your grief. I love yolu.

I wholeheartedly appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, as they make my day! I answer every one by personal email. :-) Unless... you are a "no-reply" blogger, which can occur for a few reasons. You can get around that by writing out your email within your comment so that I can answer you.
