Well, I didn't wait to hear from anyone in the post where I showed this possible layout on the design wall to be honest, and I sewed up the proposed layout for my RSC2018 quilt top!
I love it, and am glad I did this little-bit-unconventional layout.
It will be my OMG for November, to finish it. I love these rainbow quilts, much-needed vibrancy and happy colour in the past rainy days, (but the sun is out this morning yay!) not to mention the gloomy state of worldly affairs, and worry, shock, and depression about things in the country south of my own, and some incomprehensible changes (backward) in my province of Ontario with this new premier...
I think I may have a quilting idea already decided upon! Knowing me, ha, that could very well change. What won't change is who has claimed this quilt...

It looks great! I have somehow fallen behind on keeping up with blogs and quilting. The next few days are promising and I need to get at least 2 tutorials done too! The rain is not inspiring me at all, but your quilt sur does.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt Sandra - I love the colours. And here in St Catharines, I echo your concerns about the world, the States, and especially the province - it is all very worrying. But it is a beautiful, sunny morning here too, so we'll concentrate on that in the short term. Thanks for sharing your own rainbow!
ReplyDeleteTerrific! I love the way this block design uses a lot of squares to show off color. Liz in Houston
ReplyDeleteI'm with you for "sewing bright" to "feel bright"! Thanks for sharing your top. It is scrappy lovely. These are unsettling times, a great worry for me as I contemplate the future for my children.
ReplyDeleteGYP Sandra! Someone already claimed this quilt??!! I didn't even get my offer out there yet. Just wondering why this is an unconventional layout? I wasn't aware of the quilt police - maybe it's a Canada thing?!! HAHA! I'm enjoying this vein of writing so much, giggling away to myself. Anyhoo - I love how it turned out. As usual I can't wait to see your quilting plan, and if someone changes their mind about their claim I would be HAPPY to give this quilt a very good home. Happy Happy Sunday to you. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteGreat layout! I'm getting ready to start putting my RSC blocks together and I'm trying to break out of the strict "rainbow order" mode. I'll be eyeballing your placements for inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt and I can't think of a better layout. All the colors are so bright and they make me smile. When you know what's good you should just go for it!!
ReplyDeleteSorry for not commenting, Sandra! I know I thought the layout looked great. Am completely curious about the new(?) squirrel keeping you company :-)
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful! I love the different tones of color, they're so jewel-like!
ReplyDeleteI like the layout. Now I want to make this block. Must. Resist. There's too much out there to make. I'd need to quilt 24/7 in order to make my way through all the patterns I have in my possession and all the patterns I'd like to have. LOL
ReplyDeleteVery pretty quilt!l. Love the block pattern. Nanette. Fredericsneice@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteLove the layout, love the colors - great quilt!! Looking forward to the quilting finish!!
ReplyDeleteLoving the rainbow colors on this quilt and the scrappy neutral background! I'll be curious to see what quilting magic you have in store for this one. What ever it is...it will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's really beautiful Sandra. I'm sure it feels good to get all that scrappy goodness together.
ReplyDeleteIt came out gorgeous, Sandra! Good luck accomplishing your OMG!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra! What a fabulous finish for the month!! AND to get to deliver it in person to your girl is just priceless. Beautiful colors and block, of course. I love that hat and mittens peeking around the quilt. ~smile~ Oh, that barn shot!!! Your quilt is almost but not over shined by the barn (and no snow there!!). It was begging, just BEGGING to be used as a photo op. Very, very familiar with the Finger Lakes and downward side of the lakes. Aww, she was so sweet as a peewee. You have no regrets spending time with your girls - isn't that just the best?!! I get misty for you! Aww, I love all these special quilted treasures you've done. Oh yeah, your mum absolutely needs to be a part of this quilt. For you and for Dayna! Love, love, LOVE that!! OMG - that just gives me the chills, through and through. And a French name - I took four years of it in school, and could get around in Paris so a very, very COOL and sweet name. Aww, I'm joining in my first DrEAMi and how cool is it that you will be enjoying a wedding that day. I will be thinking of all of you and sending good vibes, and many blessings for the newlyweds. Happy Sunday! ~smile~ Roseanne
