A Roll of the Dice Pattern Launch: Rockin' Runners

Are you ready to see some rockin', radiant runners today? Here is the original one I made back in August 2018 using Amanda Murphy's gorgeous line 'Free Motion Fantasy'.

The background fabric is just fabulous, filled with swirls and McTavishing, so on two blocks I traced it with my FMQ, and on the alternate two blocks I did straight lines 1/2" apart. This runner, like the pillow, appears to have borders, but it doesn't! You make them as part of the blocks, sew the four blocks together and ta-da! Runner complete. Let's see what Michelle and Susan did with the pattern.

Just a reminder that the pattern, which contains instructions to make a baby quilt, a bed runner, and a cushion, is on sale 30% off, all week long in my Etsy shop, SandraJaneQuilts.

The runner is 18.5" x 72.5", and is made with just four 18" blocks. I have it on my bed in the summer months along with its matching cushion. It brightens up the room, and well, Bella happens to love napping on it as well, so it's a winner in her books. It's a great way to use up some scraps of favourite fabric. Just add one yard of background and you're ready to sew!

Here is a peek at the runner made by Michelle, who lives in Scotland, @peetmichelle. Absolutely gorgeous fabrics she used, no? I happen to have a bit of the orange one in my stash from a guild challenge.

Michelle plans to use this as a table runner. Be sure to visit her post on Instagram to read what she did to get it smaller than the bed runner. Did you notice that there are five blocks not four?!

Sue, who lives in England,  @susangodfrey600, and with whom I shared a fabulous lunch in Bolton, Lancashire, in August 2019, made this oh-so-pretty runner. Again, just gorgeous fabrics!
She plans to make more rows and turn the bed runner into a quilt! I told everyone to feel free to adapt the pattern to their own needs/vision and I am loving what people did. The cushion got turned into a game board, the runner into a quilt, or made a bit smaller to become a table runner... I love seeing the creativity sparked by my design!

Be sure to click the links to see more photos and read more about their makes.

Tomorrow is baby quilt day, and there will be no less than five for you to feast your eyes upon! I would greatly appreciate it if you would pin the pattern cover or my finished runner on your Pinterest to help get the word out about the new pattern.😊 Thank you!

  4. Hi Sandra! Oh, I love all of these runners. And the length is perfect for me either as an island or bed runner. Both friends used pretty fabrics - the background Michelle chose lets those colors shine, and who doesn't love a sunshine yellow?!! Great job all of you. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  5. Lovely runners! I like the idea of making extra blocks and turning them into a quilt.
