The quilt uses just two blocks, and, although they appear as if they're on point, they are not. All it consists of is HSTs and squares.
I love that spot as well for quilt shots! It's just a few doors down from the hotel, at one of our optometrist's in town. I used the concrete green tape to stick it onto the metal sign which is one of several murals done by various artists in the Arts Society of Kingsville. I actually bought a mug from them with this mural on it as it has special meaning for me.
Sorry that screenshot has come in a little blurry. The pattern will be 25% off through our August long weekend. Most provinces and territories have a holiday Monday of some sort, so although I didn't originally plan it to release on a long weekend, it works out perfectly. I keep all my patterns at $12CA except for Rainbow Neighbourhood which is a huge pattern with four projects, so it's $14. So Tinker Toys is on sale until Monday at midnight for just $9CA.
Here's another shot of the throw:
And of course the cushion/pillow cover:
I spent a good amount of time in July working on the instructions for another design which I can't show you yet as it will be in an issue of Make Modern next year. Now that that is pretty much done, I plan to focus on writing up directions for two quilts I designed in the annual Project Quilting challenge. I also have pulled a couple of USO's (Un-Started Objects), one of which is almost at the flimsy stage. I have been feeling another emotion-quilt project prodding me over the past few weeks, so I may succumb to that once this USO flimsy is complete.
Happy long weekend if you're so lucky to have one. I hope you'll pop over to check out Tinker Toys! Susan in Australia made the quilt a little while back and sent me a photo:
She is another quilter who has quilted along with me for many of my annual Quilt Alongs.π She followed a similar colour scheme to the magazine quilt, but look at her fussycut centres! Great idea!
Finally! Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous pattern (see what I did there :-) ). The cleaver use of white space elevates the pattern and it somehow goes way beyond tinker toys!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see this new pattern. I love all the fabric combinations but I think I love the fabrics in the chair cushion best. Hope you have a great long weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great no matter what colourway is used! A little white space goes along way!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on publishing a new pattern. It's no small amount of work to put together a pattern. I'm doing our guild BOM for this year and next. It's no insufficient amount of time to write a block pattern a month!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pattern - as always. Have a wonderful long weekend. I'm just back from Festival of Quilts - the largest quilt show in Europe but working full time for the next two weeks; a bit of a shock to the system but I'll cope. :-)
ReplyDeleteNot sure why I'm anonymous again MichelleinScotland :-(
DeleteCongratulations on the release, Sandra. Two years is a really, really long time to wait to have the rights return back. I would stop submitting to them as well!!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo at the optometrists...the colors sing on that porch. Congrats for publishing on your own and wishing you great success with it. I have got to get back to my pattern that I wrote a few months ago, but never did the final edits....this is reminding me.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really sweet quilt design Sandra. I'm glad it's finally yours to do with as you please.
