If you haven’t cut these yet, the biggest tip I can give you is to remind you to cut the spiky side triangles on a double fold of fabric. This will give you a right and a left spiky triangle.
Whether you choose to piece these using the templates I uploaded to Dropbox, or your specialty rulers, the angled points are invaluable for aligning the pieces.
Take the time to trim off the sharp point using the guide on the ruler. You can see how the top of the spiky point sits perfectly on top of the base triangle, and how the two angled pointy lower sides sit perfectly at the bottom right edge of the base triangle. I’ve left the tiny cut-away points beside the lower edge of my Wonder Triangles, base ruler to show you it’s worth it to cut those off.
Chain piece these babies! Here I’ve offset the two triangles so you can see how those cut-away points will align.

This shows the second spiky triangle aligning perfectly with the base + first spiky triangle. Sew these with a scant ¼” seam.
There is very little to trim.
Because these are cut through two layers of fabric, the stripe effect of my black fabric doesn’t line up. This bothers me, but I’ve decided to go with it. However, if, when I get to putting the blocks together, it bugs me a lot, I will recut these.
First of all, the 5 ¼” dot and the ¼” dot need to be at the top, as indicated by the arrows. Then, at the bottom where the spiky triangles overlap, align the 2 ¾” dot, being sure that the 5 ½” line runs across that point or a thread below. This will preserve those beautiful points. Notice that the top two seam lines do not bisect the corner. This is because these are actually half rectangles, not half squares.
Make four Fabric A/BG units. These are the floral fabric and white spiky star points. They will form the ‘fat’ floral stars layer.
