Pattern Release

...or is it 'Pattern Releases' because there's more than one...

or 'Patterns Release' because I'm releasing two, and 'release' is just one event...

I'm feeling rather Lorelei here.  Do you recall that episode of 'Gilmore Girls'? It's in Season 4, the season of which I am in the second half at the moment.

Any-who.

I have been busy doing a bunch of not-sewing, but quilt-related stuff: that of pattern-writing. The first one that was released this week, on Tuesday, to be exact, is 'Oh, the Places You'll Go!' a quilt I designed for the January Island Batik blog hop.
There are two styles of suitcase blocks in the pattern, and each 'pocket' on the suitcase is a different 6" block.
There is even an actual usable pocket on one of the suitcases.

The quilt is made up of twelve suitcases, two of each style, and finishes at 69 X 84", which is a healthy lap or a twin size.

Here is the house block, because 'stay-cation' right?!
I had fun making the windows with my quilting stitches.

I also had fun on the back, using the extra pieces I'd cut when I cut too many pieces for a tall suitcase.
The pattern is regularly $12CA but is on sale all week at 25% off, which means $9CA. You can buy your PDF copy in my Etsy shop, SandraJaneQuilts or by clicking the image below:

The newest one is Beothuk Star. I had remade the quilt for the quilt along which ran in the spring this year, and I called it Sherbet Stars.
It makes a nice baby quilt, finishing at 42.5" square.

Alternatively, the first version I made when I designed the quilt has a much more formal feel:
It can be a wallhanging or a table topper, or even a small adult lap quilt that you could hang over the back of a couch.

Update: so I played a bit in EQ8 as I think this would make a great First Christmas baby quilt, or a Christmas wallhanging or on a table...

I used some modern Christmas colours with aquas, and I do like both versions, AND I have fabric that matches these...do I detect another squirrel to chase?!

You can purchase the pattern here or by clicking the image below. For the next week, it will be on sale for 50% off! Just $5CA.

Another real life update is our renovation that seems to have been going on forever. The electrician has completed the bulk of his work, and will come back to do the final hook-up when the drywall is all done. The spray-in insulation in the roof has been happening all the day long today so we've been relegated to living on the deck today, not a terrible thing as it's a beautiful day except for a sprinkle of rain for about 15 minutes. MacGyver, with the help of Tyler, got the upstairs walls insulated on the Labour Day weekend.

Light! Beautiful light! Can't wait to get set up in here.
The kitchen half we renovated is at this same stage. More on that when there's something a little more exciting to show! I haven't looked upstairs yet where these two photos were taken as the guys are just cleaning up but the spray-in insulation will be all in the ceiling rafters that are exposed here.

If you haven't heard,
Be sure to click here to read my post where you will find the entry for an amazing giveaway on Benita's page. She is our host. There are several of us participating, and at each blog you visit there is an entry available. Don't worry; the hop is on all the month of September so you have lots of time!

And if you are in need of a little fabric therapy ahead of that prize giveaway, maybe to go with a certain pattern purchase, be sure to check out the sale at bluprint and at Connecting Threads! (affiliate links)

Bluprint has 60% off one blueprint-exclusive item. This one (affiliate link) is tempting me....
Color Crystals kit
I haven't bought anything from them for some time. The fabric diet has been strict. But these colours I love together and that pattern is pretty slick. 60% off is a pretty darn good deal. Um I just checked, and it goes from roughly $248CA to $99. For 16 yards of fabric. Gulp.

Connecting Threads has 30% off threads, and you know if you've read me for any amount of time that I do love their threads, and use them a lot, both in my Bernina and on my longarm. They also have 30% off batting. I have taken advantage of both of these sales... uh, more than once in the past.

I just used this silk blend batting (affiliate link) from Hobbs in Ripples, loved working with it, and it washed up wonderfully.

Okay! Maybe I can actually sew a few more pieces on Brady's football blocks for his quilt. I have almost all 20 complete.

  1. Congratulations on the pattern(s) release! They are both lovely quilts, although it's the suitcases that tempt me. I just want to play with the six inch blocks, and put in them things to take travelling, like cookies, and cameras, and love...I can only imagine how happy you'll be to be finished the reno, but that attic room is going to be beautiful. Hang in there.
