DrEAMi! #38

All right I have a PSA for everyone: just so you know, I have my Queen of Squirrel Chasers crown set back straight on my head this month. Foof! Look out!

Did I scurry around or what! Just like the one below who I spotted on Thursday on my walk with my dog around the 'hood, I feel like I've scored a donut the size of me with the joy of madly dashing off in all directions.
Zoom in some more... wait, I did.

Stars Aligned New Quilt in Modern by the Yard Issue #13

Benartex's new issue of Modern by the Yard is out, and I have another design in it! I was so honoured to have been asked again to design a quilt for their ezine. This is actually a quilt I designed in last year's #30quiltdesigns challenge that I've hosted for a few years now.
Don't you just love how they photographed it? I sure grinned when I got the photo!

I Like/Love #38

Welcome to my monthly post of gratitude. I collect likes and loves all month long and sum them up on the last Thursday of the month. I link up my post, as do several others who express public their gratitude, with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color.

1. I love my cat Bella. She's a diva, a goof, a minx.

Project Quilting Season 11 Wrap-up

I absolutely LOVED taking part in Project Quilting with Kim for the first time, finally! Every year I see it, but I'm usually too caught up in an Island Batik or magazine project or something, so I haven't done it. I didn't really have time to do it this year either, but I threw caution to the winds and jumped in. I completed all six challenges, four by the deadline, two within minutes of it, waah, but all six are done, useable, and I love each one. 11.6 was Vibrant & Vivacious.
On Saturday afternoon, yup, 24 hours before the deadline I thought of making a bag, a grocery bag to be exact. So I dug into my pink, orange and yellow scraps, and came up with this wild thing.
Now before I walk you through what led to this zany bag, be sure you check out my previous post, which has a giveaway, as well as a link to the fantastic Benartex Fabrics giveaways. I will wait for you...

Bohemian Rhapsody: Benartex Precut Project Blog Hop & Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the Benartex Precut Project blog hop! 'Aha!' you're thinking. 'This is one of her secret sewing projects she's mentioned.' Yup!

I was honoured to have been asked by Benartex Fabrics to create a quilt with one of their new lines. I chose Mabon by Shelley Cavanna of Cora's Quilts. It makes me think of Morocco, spices and heat with its rich colours. I kept thinking Boho as I worked with the fabrics, and it's not too hard to see the small leap to Bohemian Rhapsody.

This is the third time I've made my Pockeful of Sunshine pattern. Why is it that we designers like to remake our patterns? I do not know, but I really do! Not so with books; I rarely re-read them, even favourites, but patterns? Yes. This pattern sews up super-fast, and would make a quick comfort or baby quilt.

Benartex supplied the fabrics for this lovely lap-size quilt.

The pattern is available in my Etsy store, for a limited time at the $6CA price because I am rewriting it, getting it edited, and then re-releasing it so it looks more professional. This was the very first pattern I wrote and published.

LIght

I am a child of the Light. I wake up with the sun, love the sun's warmth on my skin, the brightness of it in my kitchen. Lightness of spirit is another meaning of Light, and for the most part I am that. These days, especially this week, it's very difficult. However, here are some enlightening photos from the past day or two that have lightened my heart and lifted my spirit.
March 17 on my beloved empty lot on Lake Erie's shore at the end of my street.
I wasn't sure what these were, thought daffodils maybe. Today, I think I know...

Turquoise Scraps Box

It's done! I don't know if you are finding it a little harder than usual to focus, but I am. Understandable in these very serious and alarming times. I did get this scraps box done, but it took me both Saturday and Sunday!
This is my OMG for March. Now to remember to link it up when the last week is here!!

Project Quilting 11.4 Birds in the Air and 11.5 Give it Away

I think this has been the longest gap in blog posts for a long time, perhaps in my blog's history. I've been very busy head down, sewing. Some of what I've been doing is on Instagram, albeit sneak peeks as two projects were secret sewing. I've also been busy hauling sewing stuff from storage in the basement and garage upstairs to my new space that is not entirely done (trim needed, but we are waiting for a warmer day to paint baseboards, and for a sale to buy window trim). MacGyver suggested I get everything up there except for Avril, the longarm, who still resides in the basement bedroom, to see what I have and what kind of storage I need. Oh man, it's rather a hot mess right now! I've already drawn a to-scale room arrangement that I think I will need, and I still think for the most part it's what I will end up doing.
Freshly pressed Kona cottons!
As you can see, we've, well he has, put together two Kallax for an IKEA hack cutting/pressing table on castors. I am working with it over the next couple of weeks to see how big of a countertop I want on it, and where I want the inserts (drawers and cabinet doors). So far I LOVE it. Being able to get around all four sides is wonderful. I did buy an Alex as well, just the small one, to see how that goes and whether I would need another. The jury's still out on that! Bella loves being back up there, and is busy helping in her own cat way.

March OMG and Giveaway Winner

I didn't get an OMG together for February, and my January one, which you can see here, got done in record time, like within a day or two of my post but I forgot to link it up! I'd added a second one, to finish another scrap box, but that didn't happen. So! For March I am planning to get my turquoise scrap box done. I have the panels made:
That is an in-progress shot, but rest assured, they're all four complete now, just need quilting and assembling!
