Blog Hop Announcement, Giveaways and OMG!

This is a quick post to take care of several items!
First and foremost, it is the start of our second Island Batik blog hop for 2020. There are four this year, yep! And hopefully you caught the announcement this past weekend on Instagram, because there's already a sweet giveaway on offer. So head over and check it out.
The hop runs May 4 - 26 with new Island Batik giveaways each week, giveaways at pretty much each ambassador's stop, and tons of inspiration and eye candy featuring the newest collections. I finally get to show you my surprise fabric bundle. You may even get a sneak peek in this post...

Here is Week 1 schedule:
May 4:
May 5:
May 6:
May 7:
May 8:

I've had my thinking cap on for well over a month now, and the biggest problem has been not to make everything I think of. I will say that there will be more than one item. Here is a sneak peek of one of them under construction.
My collection is called River Valley. Blues and greens, yes oh yes.💙💚

Somehow between working on one of the items on the weekend, and finishing up my #StayHome quilt, I have started yet another RSC project.

The dark green row of blocks is my RSC project #1 May blocks all done. I just have to say that although I love yoga, and get a lovely zen feeling during and after practice, I get the same zen feeling being up early in the morning heading straight to my machine, coffee in hand, and stitching up a bunch of 2.5" squares.😇

The blocks beneath RSC project #1 are out of Nine-Patch Revolution, a book I got out of the library the day they closed due to Covid-19, on March 15. It's by Jenifer Dick and Angela Walters, and it is a good 'un. And well, because I have this book in my house for who knows how long, it would be rude NOT to make at least one project out of it, right? There are so many great ideas, with lovely notes and photos of Angela's stellar quilting, but for some reason this quilt really spoke to me, and I thought oh man, it could really use up some scraps... So I'm making ten blocks each month in between sewing other projects. I pretty much always do this, so that I never cut my thread, just feeding piece after piece through the machine. It's like I get a free quilt. Kind of like sewing in my sleep, which we all wish we could do right?

Another project that happened because of the leader/ender sewing I do, is the scraps sorting boxes. So this brings me to my OMG for May, and that is to finish up my orange one. The sides are all done, just needs quilting and assembling.

The final note in this post is that I am taking a blog break this week because I am in a Yin Yoga teacher training course with Bernie Clark himself 🙏that runs Monday through Sunday, all day for seven days. I was supposed to take this in Vancouver the first week of April, but Covid happened. They, like so many many other courses and events, are offering it online, so that is what I've decided to do. Vancouver would have been much better, and with Bernie in person, but this will be live (yay Zoom!) so it's the next best thing, and it's with Yinsters from all over the globe, super-cool. I will post Friday's instructions for the Centred QAL, and for those who join me for the Yin classes I teach Live on Instagram, yes, I will still be doing those. Vancouver is three hours behind me, and they start at 8 am PST, so I get most of my morning, but will be studying into the early evening. Please note that I won't be responding to comments all week. In my non-Yin TT time, I will be sewing like a madwoman for my post on May 12!

Which brings me to To Do Tuesday list:
1. Write the Centred QAL post and schedule it for Friday. It goes live at 3 am EST.
2. Finish up my Home Décor projects for Island Batik blog hop.
3. Write my post for the hop.

  1. I came in because of that bottom picture with what I call scrap fabric. I can't remember what others have called it.

  7. So happy you are getting your class even though it isn't in person. What a great way to spend Covid...with a quilt book. I can't say that you have been slowed down much by the virus as you seem super busy. That's a good thing because otherwise it could get depressing! Enjoy your class.

I wholeheartedly appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, as they make my day! I answer every one by personal email. :-) Unless... you are a "no-reply" blogger, which can occur for a few reasons. You can get around that by writing out your email within your comment so that I can answer you.
