Rainbow Neighbourhood House Block #5

We are at the halfway point of making house blocks!

For those of you making the throw, once you have House #5 done, you are more than half way because there are only nine houses to make. For those of you making the twin, you have ten houses to make. This week we aren't making any extra parts for our neighbourhood, so it's an easy week!

This week's featured sponsors are Art East Quilting Co and Stitchin at Home.

Art East Quilting Co is a new sponsor this year. I won an Instagram giveaway from them, the first one I'd ever won, and then two weeks later I won another from The Fabric Nook!

I have loved their Hairy Coo pattern since I first saw it a year or so ago. We were in Scotland in the summer of 2019, so that's what I chose for my free pattern!

They have lots of, in their words, 'quirky' quilt patterns. 'Goats in Pyjamas' cracks me up. But that's not all they sell! Check out their notions, and they are taking pre-orders for Tula Pink's newest line, Besties . They do workshops and presentations, and host an annual mystery quilt. They are located on beautiful Cape Breton Island, in Nova Scotia, Canada. They are offering two prizes! A free pattern of choice to two people. Watch for a giveaway of one coming up in next week's post!

Cindy of Stitchin at Home has been a sponsor all seven years. She just lives a couple of hours' drive from me near London.

Cindy designs beautiful patterns, and has been her guild's Block of the Month designer for many years. I made one of her patterns in 2018 for an Island Batik challenge, and it's one of my favourite quilts.

One winner will win their choice of two PDF patterns from Cindy's shop.

Here is my fifth house, a pretty turquoise one. I made the entire house from the Broken Glass line, along with my background which is a Blender, and the palest aqua in the LeMoyne Star on the side of the house is one of their Marvelous Multis, called Iceberg.

That's it for this week. Short and sweet. Be sure to tag me on Instagram when you post your houses; I love seeing all the different ideas, fabrics and personalizations!

  1. I think I'll be going for an orange-themed house this week! Have to decide on the quilt block first - I've found that the design decision part is half the fun. Enjoying this QAL so much - thanks, Sandra!

  2. Lovely. I'm a bit further ahead on my "village" & contemplating No.8 & the bits for 7 sitting waiting to be started & I'm having fun too. Love that Coo pattern. So coot!(giggle) Thank you Sandra, take care & hugs.

  3. I'll start cutting #s 5 & 6 today....yellow for one and orange for the other. Deciding on the fabrics is the most time consuming. Of course, I'm behind on the "extras" but my plan may not come to fruition. Love the turquoise house.

  4. Lo e that coo pattern! And of course your teal house makes me happy! Catching up, one more today if all goes well.

  5. Hi Sandra, I love your latest house. I ran out of roof fabric and bought some at a quilt show last weekend. Once it's washed, I'll start my next house (or two). Have a great week!

  6. You are a master house builder, Sandra! Another beauty!
