Rainbow Neighbourhood Mid-Point Link Up

Welcome to the halfway point of this year's Quilt Along! It is such a joy to see all the pretty, interesting, unique, themed houses popping up everywhere! By now everyone should have five houses made. If you are making the twin, you also have four large tree blocks made.

Did I mention that there will be a prize chosen for those who link up their five houses? Don't stress if you don't have all five done yet; the linky will be open all week, until midnight Saturday, so you've got time, my friend. Breathe.

You saw my fifth house last week, but here it is again, a turquoise house, and, because I am staying true to the diagrams and mockup in my pattern, I made the LeMoyne Star variation for the side of the house.

I love this house, but then each time I make one, I think I love it the most, so I guess they will all be even by the end of the quilt. Here is the turquoise house from my original quilt, which you can see on the front of the pattern.

I had a lot of fun fussy-cutting and changing up the 'front yard' of each house. This one, as you can see, is on the waterfront. In the final quilt I decided that the two different windows bugged me enough that I ripped out the birds and inserted another turquoise ‘stained glass’ window.

So for this next week, you will be making a sixth house. I made my sixth house the red house. It has a Woven Star on the side. There isn't a lot of red in the Broken Glass line, so I had fun digging back through my Island Batik fabrics to make this one.

Since I looked up the original turquoise block, here is the original red house.

For those of you making the twin quilt, you need to also make the two flower blocks. A note about the flower blocks: they are asymmetrical in the quilt, but you don't have to do that. You can choose to make them both oriented the same way.

Here are all the parts to my twin quilt thus far! I love seeing this brightness on my design wall every day.

All right, let's see all your beautiful burgeoning neighbourhoods! Link up below. I will choose two winners; one will get a free PDF pattern of their choice from Art East Quilting, and the other will get a free PDF of their choice from Meadow Mist Designs.

  1. My fifth house is still in pieces, but now you've issued the challenge, so I'll get it sewn up! Like you, each new house I work on is my favorite. I'm loving yours with the dark sky!

  2. Beautiful houses, Sandra. But that blue one with all the different fabrics is exceptional!

  5. Finals week for me, then it's back to building houses. Ahhh! (panicked scream) I love both sets of your houses. The black background really makes things pop!

  6. I'm so enjoying this and seeing all the other houses & will try and do a link some time today. Still have a itty bit of embroidery to complete on a couple of blocks, but will show anyway. Loving your new blocks and also wondering if anyone else is doing it here in Oz. Take care & hugs.
