I love that green owl fabric. I won it, along with a few other scraps in that line, from Michelle at From Bolt to Beauty in a giveaway she had a couple of years ago. Speaking of Michelle, have you seen that she is now a published author? She’s just released her first book and it sure looks like a good one, Not-Your-Typical Jelly Roll Quilts.
Because this block doesn't take up that many strips, and the green rectangles do not use up many crumbs, I still had a very full ziploc baggie, which is where I put my crumbs within the green scraps box. Since I had sewn too many pairs and chunks, I kept going with the aim of emptying that baggie. Would you believe (of course you would) that I made not one, but three 8.5" x 10.5" rectangles?!
Thus Project #2 has appeared! I see a bricks-style quilt, maybe with narrow sashing, maybe not, in a rainbow of colours. Alternately, it may be in just a few colours, those where I have a lot of crumbs and small chunks of strips, like green, but also blue. Taking a quick peek at this very moment, pink has also got a pretty full baggie and strips box.
This past Friday I dropped off last year's RSC quilt, Rainbow Bricks, at the Windsor Sexual Assault Centre.
You know how when you have a hangnail that you shouldn’t pick at but you do because you just can’t leave it alone? That’s how I felt about the blue baggie of scraps! So I pulled it out after supper and it didn’t take too long to sew up a bunch of pairs which became fours, or sometimes threes, and the first of two or probably three blue rectangles happened!

These are from my deep blue ziploc; I have a light blue ziploc that may have enough to make a light blue rectangle. |
I’m not worried about a bit of green in there. Some of these scraps were extra parts from my Aquamarine quilt. Now I should get back to the ‘regular programme’ so to speak!
Having the extra colors in the rectangle slabs will just make the blocks look even better together later!
ReplyDeleteAll looking good Sandra. Take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteYou made quilt work of two baggies of scraps. Definitely a good week.
ReplyDeleteWhoops! It's so easy to start yet another RSC project, isn't it, Sandra? I really like those rectangular blocks, Sandra! They will make another love quilt.
