Welcome to my fifth annual Quilt Along! I am so glad to have you here. You are on the Main Page for the QAL. We will be making my quilt, Follow Your Own Path, a fun arrows with shadows quilt.
Here is the HTML code so that you can paste the button on your sidebar. Anyone who clicks on it will be taken to this main page.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.mmmquilts.com/2021/03/follow-your-own-path-fifth-annual-qal.html" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="800" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCwoCWLPCOQ3j2yxOFNbyorOyj_slvikdcVNE2WNJ9uU6JJv9xx8FzAoDOkL1E0LOR9GV8Td03NkbgKDynB1mkQhkTJNVoVMIeRLvFJ40odk8FI4zu7-IuoNoL8r9qUTaUVegfp67T7jk_/s200/Follow+Your+Own+Path.png" / /></a></div>
*Note as per Marly's comment below, I've resized the HTML code to make the button smaller, something I forgot to do when I added in the URL for the button to direct people to this post! If you want the button even smaller, then change where it has height="200" to 150 instead of 200.
As in previous years, the QAL will begin on April 3, with the final parade of quilts on June 15. The pace once again is slow, which hopefully allows you to fit this in with your regular programmed quilt schedule. Those of you who have quilted along with me in previous years know that these two dates are rather auspicious for me: June 15 is the birthdate of a 'famous Canadian' aka my dad, who, every year, would write the birthday of a famous Canadian on that date on our wall calendar, all the while with a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous little grin! April 3 is the birthdate of the daughter of that famous Canadian.😉
I designed this quilt in the #30quiltdesignschallenge in 2019. It continues to amaze me how many of the quilts the group of us designed that have been published. Not only did this quilt get published, but it also made the cover of the most recent issue of Benartex's ezine Modern by the Yard. That was quite the thrill! As is the case with all my QALs, the pattern is provided free. The throw size will be here on the blog, but the baby size is in MbtY so all you have to do is click the photo below which will take you to the page where you can download it. The rights have now come back to me, so I will soon have a PDF pattern available in my Etsy shop that will have instructions for both sizes along with a bonus project. Participants will get a discount on that pattern purchase. It is not necessary to purchase the pattern however!
The baby quilt is 42" x 46" which would also make a great take-to-yoga-class quilt, small lap quilt, or even a wallhanging. The throw is 54" x 60", nice for on the couch or at the end of your bed if you're like me and like an extra layer on your side of the bed! The blocks are very quick to make.
This year I have a few new sponsors that have me super-excited. If you've been in love with the 'Believe in Unicorns' Benartex fabric I've been showing on Instagram, know that some of that could be yours!
Here is the schedule so you can see if it works for you. I'll have it once again in the official announcement post on April 3 with a list of all the sponsors and description of prizes! I do hope you'll consider joining in, and thank you to those of you who have already said, "I'm in!"
April 3 - Schedule and Sponsors
April 6 - Fabric Requirements
April 13 - Cutting Instructions
April 20 - First four blocks
April 27 - Second set of blocks
May 4 - Third set of blocks
June 15 - Parade of Finished Quilts
June 23 - Winners announced
Good morning Sandra. I just added your page code to my site, but unfortunately it obscures part of my text and I'm not computer literate enough to change the width. Can you create a smaller version, or am I being very cheeky to ask?
ReplyDeleteLet the fun begin.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun. ... and a Dreami! My last year's quilt is still waiting to be sewn into a flimsy and the one before is waiting to be quilted. This will not stop me from starting another quilt ... ;) Pat
ReplyDeleteAll pages printed now, next to find fabric :-) shopping my stash (happy dance)!
ReplyDeleteJust went and bought my background fabric this morning! Looking forward to it, Sandra!
ReplyDeleteCount me in!
ReplyDeleteI'm in too! I look forward to this QAL. I'm hoping for a baby quilt! I think I have a piece of fabric that will be background. Gotta check the pattern.
ReplyDeleteI'm in and have found an ancient jelly I might use & have been conjuring up all sorts of ways to try and do a second one which is in my own quirky style(giggle). Thanks for these QALs as I had so much fun with the last one. Take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteHoping to do this!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Sandra!! I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow. Looking forward to trying again this year with your QAL. Hoping for better results than last year (as I never even got started on my project!)
ReplyDeleteI'm in the mood today for throwing caution to the wind and squirrelling my way into this project. Maybe I can use it as a scrap buster and totally talk myself into it...! xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! I can't wait to sew along, but sadly I am currently derailed due to life getting in the way. Hoping I'll be able to catch up once I get started.
ReplyDeleteI still can't decide what color combo to do. I'm thinking it will be a fun backround with solids... still contemplating.
ReplyDeletesounds like a lot of fun. Planning to join in on this one. The link is not correct, though. Says page does not exist.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, see now that it is already over. 'Sorry about that.
ReplyDeleteHi Danice, you're a no-reply, so I have no way of contacting you, but I hope you may see this... I do have the pattern in my shop, so you can make it at your leisure!
