DrEAMi #75

Welcome to the Drop Everything And Make it! party. I hope you have been captivated/taken away/mesmerized/engulfed by a project or two this summer. Engulfed by...

like this squirrel in a bird feeder! Judy of GrammaJudyB had this in a July gratitude post, and I just thought it perfect to symbolize how some projects totally captivate, occupy, and engulf us!

I took the summer off from DrEAMi linkups so I am hoping there are some great squirrel projects to share.
The ones that captivated me this past summer were mainly makeup bags, especially when I'd sold a certain colours, forgot to take it off the choices list, and someone ordered that colour! It happened twice with forest green and once with pink, so pedal to the metal sewing was done, and I was still able to meet my 2-business-days mailing deadlines.

The other squirrel was not quite a squirrel, because it wasn't unplanned. It was my own summertime-playtime mental state that suddenly felt like I had a quilt to make for Cheryl's new book release, and just when was that deadline again? Yeah, in the very near future at that time, August 4, so utter focus, à la Drop Everything And Make it! happened to get the top done. Which I did. Drop everything, and sew like a fiend, but a very content fiend.

It is one of two that await quilting at present; Canadian Women was on the frame for two months! I could do it on my Bernina, but other than list it in my Etsy shop, it doesn't have a place to go at present, though I do have a glimmer of a place...

It's a great book, Just Two Charm Pack Quilts, and I am sure I'll be making another one or two from the book.

Okay it's your turn! Share away and tempt us all! Remember please that this is not an in-progress linkup, but for those 'Drop Everything And Make it! and make it right now, projects, projects that are completely finished or at the completed top stage.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  1. I love that squirrel. He doesn't seem to have a care.

  2. Nothing from me this month either. The squirrel is rather cute in the feeder. Take care & hugs.

  3. That photo is a favorite of mine. My sister loved feeding the birds and even when the squirrel invaded the bird feeder she could only retaliate by taking his photo! I miss her a lot!

  4. Your make-up bags are so pretty - no wonder they sell so well! Where do you like to get the metal zippers? Your quilt from Cheryl's book is such an interesting design - hope you get a chance to quilt it soon!

  5. Love how you worked glimmer into the language of this post. The quilt top is very pretty.

  6. Hi Sandra, I hope that you had a good summer. I'm glad that I finally was on time for the party! Take care.
