DrEAMi! #37

Welcome to the February edition of Drop Everything and Make it! So are the squirrels starting to race circles around the trees in your yard? Or in your sewing room perhaps? With Quilt Con just over, I bet there are lots of the little furry guys running around in quilters' heads right about now! Once again, I chased a couple of squirrels, thanks to Project Quilting. The first one amazed me as to how fast I got a pretty large quilt together (51.5" square). This was for the 'Put a Heart on It' challenge.

It even made the Sunday Showcase on Aurifil's blog. 😍💖 I just love this quilt, which I named 'Smooches'. It will be one of my comfort quilts for Hands2Help this year. You can read about it here.

Island Batik Log Cabin Blog Hop Final Week

It's the final day of Island Batik's Log Cabin blog hop, so I thought I'd pop in with a parade of this week's quilts and a reminder to be sure to enter the giveaways on the ambassadors' blogs, as well as on Island Batik's blog. All of these collections should be available in quilt shops now.
My own quilt is shown below. The sun is out this morning, so I took another photo which you can see at the end of the post.

I Like/Love #37

It's time for my gratitude post of the month. I collect likes and loves all month long, and am grateful for all these wonders. I'm joining in with a lovely group of people writing similar posts on Thursdays, and linking up with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color.

1. I like slippers. I have two new pairs this winter, long overdue. The turquoise kitty ones are from Dayna for Christmas, and the pink kitty ones I found on sale at the Red Apple in town. Dayna's husband Tyler says he's never seen a family so obsessed with slippers. We come by it naturally; both my mum and dad loved slippers. I even bought the non-slipper-loving MacGyver a pair last winter, and he wore them a lot. Speaking of MacGyver, I really like that he used one of the net produce bags I bought a couple of months ago when he went to the grocery store the other day. I like that he goes to the grocery store! And I like these net bags; I am committed to and doing pretty well at minimizing my use of plastics. It's sparked conversations on Instagram too as we chat about various companies we find that offer natural alternatives to laundry soap, body wash, plastic shower poofs and plastic in general, in countries from Canada to the US to Australia and the UK! I love these connections. Gosh I never thought I'd have so many likes/loves with two slippers pics LOL!

Centred: Log Cabin Blog Hop With Island Batik

It is my day to share my Log Cabin quilt, and I am very excited to show you what I created.
My line of fabric is Prairie Skies. I was born in Alberta, and spent many happy times at my grandma's farm, and at my aunt's farm with my cousins, so I know all about those blue Alberta prairie skies. Blue is also my favourite colour, so I was so happy to get to work with this line!

I'm Back and Back at it!

Pretty much what my husband said when he realized I would be up at 5:30 on Thursday, the morning after we arrived home to teach yoga! All good. I love my life. It is nice to get away and be warm, but it is lovely to be back home. Here is what I gazed at one of the ten days we spent in the Sarasota and Port Charlotte areas of Florida:

And here is my view on my dog walk Thursday morning:

Awesome colours, sounds, sparkles, both! Head on in to see what Lake Erie looked like Saturday morning after two pretty cold nights!

Grace Pattern Release

I am so very excited to announce the release of my newest pattern, Grace, which you can find in my Etsy shop, Sandra Jane Quilts.

It's rather fitting to release a heart quilt on Valentine's Day. 💖 Grace makes a good-sized throw quilt or a twin, and is great for fat eighths and/or scraps. The pattern has instructions to make either a jagged edge on the shadow half heart or a straight edge. This is the first self-published, non-magazine published quilt that I've had Yvonne at Quilting Jetgirl tech edit. She is an excellent editor; her suggestions and improvements took this pattern from good to totally professional.

Project Quilting 11.3 Smooches

With all that is going on in my life right now, I cannot believe I did complete this challenge, and in plenty of time, and that it grew a fair bit bigger than originally planned! Seems to be a theme this year...
Presenting Smooches:

my entry for the 'Put a Heart On It' challenge for Project Quilting at Persimon Dreams.

This is my quilt for Island Batik's January challenge...
It's no secret that I just adore scrap quilts, so when Island Batik said the first challenge was to make something scrappy, I was like yeee-ESSSSS!! You've seen two other small projects, my om coasters and cat mats, which were both Project Quilting makes as well. This candles quilt got a little pushed aside by them because it became so much more of a project than originally intended, and I wanted to do it justice. All of the fabrics in this quilt, some of the thread, the 2.5" strip die, and the batting were provided to me by Island Batik, Aurifil, AccuQuilt and Hobbs Batting.
