My First Quilt

Happy Friday! I had hoped to have a finish but life has intervened, as has a good book, and general poky-ness, so maybe this weekend... In the meantime, I'm popping in to let you know that I was asked by Leanne of Devoted Quilter if I would like to be interviewed about the first quilt I ever made for a new series she's doing on her blog and Instagram.

In case you missed any of the posts, which come out at the end of each month, (I didn't catch Leanne's, so I will be heading over to read it asap!)
you can read about Leanne's own first quilt here
Laura's, Slice of Pi, first quilt here
and about Michelle's, From Bolt to Beauty, first quilt here.

I am honoured to be the featured 'First Quilt' interviewee today. You can hop over to Leanne's blog, to read all about my first little quilt.

That's a recent photo, taken in February to use in an upcoming magazine publication - eeek.

  2. Loved hearing about your first quilt at such a tender young age and how far you have come since the beginning. Thanks for sharing it, I'd love to hear Yvonne's (above) tpp at some time. Take care & hugs.

  3. I started sewing for my Barbie too, but don't have her or what I made for her...or anything really from my firsts. Fun to know more about your sewing journey.

  4. A Barbie quilt, how fun! You were certainly an overachiever. Did you ever try to make Barbie clothes? Such tiny seams! Thanks for sharing your fun story!

  7. I enjoyed reading about your quilts. I wasn't allowed to use the sewing machine either, so I used a lot of Scotch tape and Kleenex as the stuffing.

  8. How nice that you were invited to participate in Leanne's project - sharing one's first quilt. Like you, I've been quilting for decades. I started my first quilt in 1976 and it still isn't finished (hand quilted). Your photo is excellent! And it's exciting that you'll be in an upcoming publication. Such fun experiences!

  9. I love your first quilt/s Sandra, what a great idea for a series that Leanne is doing. Mum had me do my first sewing by hand as well (a doll's nightie) so I had ED do her first sewing by hand as well - that was a doll's quilt but I had no idea about sewing quilts then!
