This one is going to be a comfort quilt, most likely destined for the Windsor Sexual Assault Centre. I give them one or two quilts each year.
I purposely did not look at any photos of Kitty Karma as I didn't want to replicate it exactly. I did a stack and shuffle technique when cutting the three pieces needed for the blocks, and did very little reorganizing other than being sure to 'land' a print on a solid. Like Kitty Karma, this one has 100% wool batting. I had an approximate 17" x 72" strip left over from other projects, so cut it in half and added another 2" leftover strip.
I did a fat meander, one of my go-to favourites to quilt, using the same lovely cotton thread from Connecting Threads as on Kitty Karma.
The backing is a metre cut I picked up a few years ago on sale. Annoyingly, past-Sandra had cut out an approximate 6" double layer square from the lower edge. Happily, present-Sandra was able to piece in that corner with the strip I'd cut off along one selvage. The quilt is 36" square, so I didn't need the 43" width. Love that it's another piece of fabric all gone!

One of the purples I had pulled for Kitty Karma's binding became this quilt's binding. It's an oldie, bought maybe 15 years ago? I've used a bit of it, but there was still about ½ yard so four strips later, and what's left is in my small chunks scrap box!
I reported in my Kitty Karma post that I only have four layer cakes left now, but to my dismay (lol) I discovered another short stack of 15 from Connecting Threads, this one Hazel by Allison Harris. Yes, the same fabric I used to make the original Lyra quilt! The stack was sitting with leftover Hazel fabric, totally forgot I had done that, so I guess I will be making another layer cake design. Time to look through Pam and Nicky Lintott's books, two of which I own, to get some inspiration. Do you have a favourite one for 10" squares? Tell me in the comments! In the meantime I will be piecing the Minky for Dayna's quilt and loading it to quilt this weekend!

Both Kitty Karma and Eden are lovely quilts...simple yet effective designs. And it's great that you can make them without having to introduce a whole lot of background/contrasting fabrics. I guess two layer cakes would make a more 'standard' sized quilt, but I do appreciate this 'handy little size' that the one layer cake creates. I'll be interested to see what design ideas you come up with for your other layer cakes!!
