Gratitude and Glimmers #111

Rather an apt quote for this month's gratitude post.

1.  What a glimmer this was!

This wee moth was having a daytime snooze in one of my mandevilla vine flowers. Wouldn't you love to be tiny enough to have a nap there?!

2.  I like this fairy ring of toadstools that appeared this year. Last year I had one or two of these horse mushrooms and this year a few more. I think Zora may have sampled one but some other creature made off with the majority of them. 

3. I was happy that MacGyver asked me to make him one of my toiletries bags for when we travel for his personal items. Several squares have significance: gears, pawprints, lake, nature, fishing related,(the lining is a Westminster Fibres fish print) and Canada motifs. 

Of course I used a length of Zipper Valley zipper tape and one of their pulls along with my satin label. 

I like the second toiletries (or whatever stuff) bag I made at the same time, using scraps of Bookish fabric. This one is for sale in my Etsy shop.

4. Zora is trying to be a quilt room dog. She’s been allowed up here a few times over the past few weeks. She behaves better in the evening. She gave me a grin, using this quilt practice sandwich that had been under the fan to keep it from rattling against the floor. 

5. The mums at one of our local greenhouses give me such a glimmer of joy every time I drive by which is a couple of times a week. On Wednesday workers were starting to package them into their plastic sleeves ready for shipping.

That's a closeup. This should give you an idea of the vast area the expanse of these pots covers.

And that's looking north. There are more to the left of the pink ones!

6. I like the view of the harbour from a restaurant where we ate in Tobermory. 

The clarity of the water in it was astonishing!

7. Glimmer after glimmer happened on our two-hour hike along the Georgian Bay in Bruce Peninsula National Park.

Not exactly a sunbathing beach here! Man, it made for tough walking.

Speaking of tough 'walking'--we took the 'Difficult' part of the trail on the first half, and it was true to its descriptor.

Vistas that took my breath away. This is looking out over Georgian Bay, sometimes thought of as the sixth Great Lake.

8. The sun shining through trees on a shorter hike on another day caught my eye. Ahh! A veritable cathedral of trees. 

Nature does colour like no other, would you not agree?

Again, this is not enhanced for saturated colour, just from my iPhone.

9. I like this mind-blowing fact about the amount of water here in Georgian Bay. Its a part of Lake Huron.

Also of note is that this is the longest public wild shore on the southern Great Lakes. If you look at the map of the Bruce Peninsula to the left, it's the shoreline running along almost all of the top ridge.

10. As for TV, I'm enjoying season 2 of North of North: lots of laughter and some more learning as well. I believe season 1 is on Netflix now. And for books, first of all, I came across this on Instagram the other day:

A bajillion percent agree.

I'm on my fourth book this month, and other than Custodians of Wonder, non-fiction, which I mentioned in my August Glimmers post, none are standouts, though they were/are interesting. The three fiction novels take place in made-up worlds, so there is escapism. They all are beginnings of series, two in one series, one in a different one. I do have one that came in on hold today that I anticipate eagerly: The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
