I Like/Love #23

Welcome to the final list for 2018 of things for which I'm grateful. I will be linking this up with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color where there are many more peeps linking up their gratitude posts.
1. I love this decoration which I made in 2015. I saw the idea on Pinterest.

2. I love my grand-cat, Harper. I cat-sat for a couple of days while Dayna and Tyler were on their honeymoon. She is the softest of cats, softer even than Bella.

3. I just love these bouquets my niece Sheila made out of some of the floral arrangements at the wedding. My mum would have adored and been in her glory at the array, scents, colours of it all. There's my favourite photo of Dayna with Nana too.

4. You may have seen this on Instagram, but I love all the things here, and I like the effect I put on the photo too, to give it a bit of a mint-cast. The mug is one of Mum's Christmas ones, the mug rug I made her for last Christmas and she was using it at her computer desk 😍 in May, tea cozy I made in 2015, and a new glass Christmas tree, and more of Dayna's flowers.

5. I love our new tree, the turquoise and silver theme, and the ribbons. I did ribbons about a decade or more ago in our previous tree but got rid of all of that when we were spending Christmases in Florida. There is definitely something about spending Christmas in a warm place, but after spending every Christmas but four since 2004 in Florida, it just gives a little something-something to the festivities. Maybe it's because that's all I ever knew? I mean the real Christmas happened in a warm country, and at least half of the planet knows Christmas as a warm time of year.

6. I love my cat Bella, and especially love it when she decides to sit with or on me while I read in bed at night. I do love these two quilts you see here as well.

7. I just adore this beautiful dog, Brandy. She is the sweetest, calmest, friendliest (well maybe Rocco out-does her there, ha) dog I have ever known, and visiting her in Florida this month was a treat.

7b. Also a treat was getting my fill of tropical flowers while I was in Florida, ahhh.

7c. I like this photo of me, reclining in a cement (and surprisingly very comfortable!) chaise-longue on the Bradenton Riverwalk. I'd just enjoyed a wonderful lunch with even more wonderful friends. It was a good day with them. I am blessed with many good and dear friends, and I am so grateful for their friendship.

8. I LOVE this moth, that MacGyver actually spied on a walk on the Greenway, on December 16! December has been lovely and mild but this was such a surprise and a treat to see.

9a. I just love Christmas and this one has been the best one in some time. I flew to Edmonton to spend it with Brianne and Brady. Here were are outside the visiting Santa area in an Edmonton mall, love the mint and lime greens in the display.
9b. Brianne pointed this out to me. Edmonton and area is amazing at how good their recycling programme is.

10. I like food. Brianne loves to cook and she has fed me well! Here are just some of the lovely meals I've enjoyed.

11. I love love love Christmas lights. We went to three different Christmas lights displays, this massive one at a farm (farmers rock!), another comprised of several city blocks called Candy Cane Lane that has been a thing in Edmonton since 1968, and a third one at one house that is phenomenal. Check my Instagram for more photos. Don't you just love these particular lights? I need to get some!

12. I like this Noël sign. I also like that this was my Christmas morning breakfast!

I do hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and if not, that at least there were some moments for which you were grateful. Memorable times with loved ones, be they family and friends, or both, are worth more than any material gifts, and I wish that for everyone on the planet.

I am linking this with Soma at Whims and Fancies for her Wandering Camera linky.

  4. How fun to be able to keep some of the wedding flowers and know how much your mom would have enjoyed them, too. I hope that is a comforting memory for you. I love Christmas lights, too, and have been really enjoying your photos of them on Instagram! So glad you had a wonderful Christmas with Brady and your daughter. Time spent with the ones we love is really the very best gift! The sign on the recycling bin is hilarious - but hopefully also effective! Happy New Year, Sandra!

  5. Lots of visual goodies in this post-especially love the recycle bin among other things. I swear to you I heard Bella growiing when you mentioned Harper being softer than her. I am one with her. Hope you're planning a wonderful New Year celebration.

  7. That is a lot of loves! I am sure my favorite is you with Brady. I love seeing Dayna's flowers still showing up and that Edmonton has figured out trash cans - doesn't seem so hard todo - but I am always surprised when I don't see them. It is pretty funny to see that Christmas breakfast - I don't know which makes me smile more - baileys or turtles! Have a terrific week (so screwed up on days/time)!

  9. Baileys in your morning coffee... priceless! What terrific likes Sandra... I enjoyed it so much. I never saw the lights in Edmonton when I lived there... dang. But I miss the mall, heh heh. Brandy has the most incredible soft expression... love in a dog... the cats are gorgeous, the lights, the food, the sentiments...

  10. Thanks for the beautiful pictures. My family went to see the lights in Leduc on Xmas eve. A sight to behold. Says that’s it’s the last year. I’m also sad that you were 14 blocks away, when at Southgate, and we didn’t get to meet. Next time hopefully you will have more time. Enjoy the rest of the year and all the best in the New Year.

  16. What a wonderful love/like list. You look happy in the cold and the warm spots. Such wonderful and simple things that can make us smile are often overlooked. You look wonderful and that concrete lounge and then again with Brady.

  17. Hi Sandra! I'm SO glad you had a fabulous Christmas. Those lights!!! WOWEE they are beautiful. I wonder if Bella was a gracious host for Harper's visit? Bella looks like she would be to a point, as long as Harper knows you belong to Bella. ~smile~ Brandy made me smile, soaking up the nice warm sun. Oh yes, I could use some of that right now. That moth you saw on the walkway sure resembles a butterfly, don't you think? And that photo with you and Brady is just the bomb. {{Hugs}} to you. Happy Happy New Year! ~smile~ Roseanne
