Christmas Cheer at Needle & Foot

I'm popping in with another quick post (two in a row, that's unusual for me, the long-winded blogger I tend to be) to let you know of a really fun little event that Bernie of Needle & Foot dreamed up. She's invited several of us to share a childhood photo of ourselves which she has posted on her blog today. Then your job as a reader is to match up the kidlet to the quilter! You can find more details on her blog. Just click the blog button below.

Here's a hint for my readers: I'm almost four in the photo.😉
Meanwhile, for ten solid days I've had my head buried in the quilt you've seen glimpses of. I'm happy to report it is off the frame, and, when you read this, the binding is currently being hand-stitched down to the back. I'm pretty excited as to how it's turned out. Can you say texture?! Now to get the light right for photos.

For this week, I need to start on my Island Batik December challenge. I know what I'm doing at least, so there's that. Well, in full disclosure I know the beginning of what I'm doing... We are to create a medallion quilt.  I also have a few small Christmas items to make and/or finish up.

I did get my Christmas cards, all ten of them (I've cut back big time) in the mail yesterday. And I've actually made two batches of Christmas cookies, both recipes of Mum's. I was going to make her shortbread (which was to DIE FOR) yesterday, but when I saw it needed chilling for several hours and this was after supper, I was like, ain't gonna happen. So I made her Rolled Oats Shortbread recipe which I haven't made for a couple of years. They turned out awesome. Here is the recipe, just for you!
Her fantastic real shortbread dough is chilling in the fridge. By the time you're reading this, they'll have been baked, and of course, sampled!

Have fun with the Guess Who activity. There's one more Bernie has planned for next week, where we'll be writing about a Christmas tradition, or memory of Christmas. I'm really looking forward to both of these activities, but the latter especially. I'll be snuggling up with a coffee and a quilt on my lap, enjoying reading those posts.

One thing I will add here as well as in the Things Are Coming Up Sandra post about four of my quilts being chosen to be in Bernina's The BIG Book of Machine Quilting, is that it is available for purchase at any Bernina store. Here is the Bernina locator site where you simply put in your country and find out where to buy this fabulous book and machines.

  4. It is a bit easier when you have met the person :-) I recognized you right away. #7 is the hardest. It is blurry B/W picture of a very young girl wearing a cap covering her hair!!! Seriously the dog is more identifiable :-(

  7. Hi Sandra! What a fun game - I think it's obvious which one is you . . . even without the hint. You can't disguise your eyes or your smile. Good to know about the Bernina book, and those Rolled Oats Shortbread cookies look delicious. YUM! Take care, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne P.S. The link to Guess Who doesn't work but it does get you to Bernie's website.

I wholeheartedly appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, as they make my day! I answer every one by personal email. :-) Unless... you are a "no-reply" blogger, which can occur for a few reasons. You can get around that by writing out your email within your comment so that I can answer you.
