Things are Coming Up Sandra

My previous post showed you my latest quilt publication, 'Follow Your Own Path'. It was the cover quilt for Modern by the Yard, issue #15, Benartex's ezine. That was quite the thrill! If you read the ezine all the way to the end, you may have noticed another design of mine, 'Let Your Star Shine'. It was featured in 'Flashback Favorites' as one of their most popular designs. Wow! 💖

This week I received not one, but two emails from blog readers, sharing photos of my patterns that they'd made. One was Let Your Star Shine! Michelle in Scotland wrote to tell me she'd noticed the quilt at the end of the ezine, and that she'd actually made it! Would you like to see her version?

Of course you would!

So soft and snuggly. 😊

The other was from Donna, who was the impetus for me to finish my Waltzing With Bears quilt pattern. She finished her version which was going to be a Christmas present for her son but she was so excited she couldn't wait, and gave it to him at Thanksgiving. (American, so about a week ago)
So beautiful! It has a lot of personal meaning too between mother and son. She added two borders as her son is tall and she wanted it to cover him completely. Thank you to both Donna and Michelle for sharing my designs as made by them. Such a feeling. 😍

Well as if this all wasn't enough excitement and personal pride, then this arrived in the mail on Wednesday.

Several weeks ago, I got a BCC email from Stephanie at Benartex asking for our addresses, as a quilt we'd made for Benartex somewhere along the way was being featured in a book. For some reason I thought this was a look book, where there is new fabric and possible quilts you can make. And I understood it to be one of the Benartex blog hop quilts I'd made this year. Bohemian Rhapsody was one and Shine the other.

Both of those quilts are available as patterns in my Etsy shop, SandraJaneQuilts.

But no, I was mistaken. THIS is the book, and WHAT a book! It's a virtual bible of quilting, discussing everything from your machine to needles, from fabric to design, from quilting designs to free-motion and ruler quilting, quilt assembly, binding... and on and on, I kid you not!

Well, I opened the book, (went 'yes!' at the coiled binding), saw the table of contents, and my eyes widened at the scope contained within the book, turned to the first page afterwards and there, right there is my "Let Your Star Shine' quilt! The first quilt in the book. Be still my heart.

As I am wont to do with a new quilt book, I flip it over and look at the last few pages, going in reverse order: index, glossary, (see? it's an amazingly well thought out and well written book). Wait, what?! There's my Ladder Links quilt!

MacGyver is at the kitchen island with me as I'm flipping, and getting giddy, TWO quilts in this book? So back to the beginning I go, more slowly, taking in some of the content, well--! Darned if there isn't a third quilt, Playtime Plus!

I am literally bouncing at this point, having a hard time that this has happened. Like Amanda Murphy has quilts in this book and she is the voice behind a lot of the content...

I FaceTime Brianne to tell her. She's at work, in the office, as opposed to working from home, which she was supposed to be doing three of her five days starting this week (it happened once). So I start telling her about what has happened, because I hadn't told any of my family about some quilt of mine getting in some book, thinking it wasn't really a big deal (oh I was wrong, so wrong), and as I am holding up the book and start flipping through it to show her how gorgeous it is,
OH
MY
GODDESS
I see another quilt of mine!! This is Stars Aligned.

I am in shock, but sadly, I am cut off because her boss walks in, and well, work, FaceTiming with your mama. Not good. Click.

Oh well, I have another daughter to tell! So off I go to FaceTime Dayna to share this incredible, uplifting news of mine. I am so very proud of these quilts they chose to be in this terrific resource. Yes, it's put out by Bernina, but the information within is not just for Bernina users, no. As I mentioned above, the depth and breadth of this resource is well worth adding it to your quilting library. And just where do you purchase it? At any Bernina store! Here is a store locator site where you can click on your country (Bernina currently has agreements in 80+ countries!) to find the nearest Bernina store.

So yep I am for sure doing a happy dance today and have been pretty much all week!

Be sure to visit my 'Follow Your Own Path' post to enter the giveaway for eight fat eighths of Benartex's 'Color Theory' fabric, which I will ship anywhere on the planet. Inside the post is a link to download the ezine for free, which has the pattern for the quilt inside.

If you missed my Instagram post yesterday on the current quilt on Avril, my longarm, here is the sneak peek. the grid quilting took forever, but the point on Instagram was how much of a difference echoing makes. I wasn't originally going to echo the feather design in the turquoise triangle, but I am so glad I went back in and did! It's done with that beautiful palest of greens of Aurifil, and the white with a beautiful Superior So Fine. You'll have to wait a few months to see this quilt in its entirety. The fabrics are Toscana by Northcott Fabrics. Similar to Grunge, they have that solid-esque feel.
