Hashtag Naptime

In August I participated in Cheryl Brickey‘s book release blog hop for Just Two Charm Packs Quilts. I made a baby quilt size version of her design Diamond Hashtag, which you can read about here. I had the behemoth 150 Canadian Women quilt on the frame at that time, so it did not get it quilted and it has sat waiting patiently ever since.

I may have a lot of WIPs and USOs, but one thing I am pretty good at is keeping on top of finished tops getting quilted. This is the last of the two tops from last year.
I think this would make a great baby boy quilt, though if a baby girl’s room is grey and aqua, this would work well there too!

I used polyester batting along with a fairly open meander so it’s a lightweight soft quilt. I picked up on some of the motifs in the blueberry park fabric, and did the occasional daisy motif in amongst the meander.

I had about a half a metre left of the adorable fat birds print by Wyndham Fabrics, which would be perfect on the back. I dug through my yellow and aqua small chunks of fabric and found three fat quarters and one chunk that got pieced to make a big enough pack.

I’ve pieced quilt backs from very early on in my quilting life, and was known for interesting backs in my Alberta guild, so doing this isn't new to me. They make me smile.

An older Cranston grey and white small floral was perfect for the binding.

I had made this back before I settled on my SAHRR centre block, so I guess I won’t be using any more of that wavy dot aqua since the remainder is all in this backing!

Outdoor shot on yet another grey day

It will be listed in my Etsy shop shortly (as soon as I get it washed up) along with the heart quilt I made for Project Quilting 15.2. I have jokingly called these two finishes, my ACL quilts, hoping to sell them to go towards the surgery costs for Xena lol. Thankfully those costs are not as astronomical as I’ve heard they are in some places apparently.

  1. How fun to get to revisit this from the blog hop now as a finished quilt. It looks great and I am sure it will find the perfect forever home.

  2. A very fun finish! My quilt top from the blog hop still isn't quilted, it's on the list for this year. Hopefully both quilts go quickly in your Esty shop.

  3. Hi Sandra! What a clever title for a very cute quilt. I'm glad you had a chance to finish up this project as it would be a shame to be banished to a UFO fate. Nice job! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. I'm so happy you showed this quilt again. I love the colors and the design. It looks lovely quilted with the little daisy scattered throughout. I do love that turquoise dot on the back. If you need more turquoise in the SAHRR, I'm sure you will find something close. I hope it sells fast to support Xena's surgery. Hope she is continuing to do okay.
