Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2024 Tops Done

I thought I’d give you an update as to what I’ve been working on lately. I have the tops done for both of my RSC projects. Both projects involved using strings. Here is the first, a simple ‘Lego’ bricks block that finishes at 10”.

So colourful, and though it did use up some strings, once again, never enough!

At the end of August I had completed my orange blocks for both quilts.

Because I started this scrappy stars quilt partway through the year, I had to play catch-up with the colours. On September 2, I made the purple block to complete the nine blocks required for this quilt.

Here is that top. You can find the free pattern here for this quilt.

Here they are together for comparison. The bricks quilt is 40” square while the scrappy stars quilt is 48” square since those blocks are 16” finished.

They will get an all-over meander and I think I’ll send them both to the Ronald McDonald House since I personally witnessed the hardship families go through when a little one is ill and they need to be away from home for extended periods of time to be near the hospital.

We had a great little 3-day getaway to Kincardine last week. It’s on Lake Huron, a magnificent Great Lake.

Crystal clear waters, so blue, and beautiful weather made for a wonderful time.

We had lunch in Goderich, another beautiful little town on Lake Huron’s shore, on the way up to Kincardine, as well as on the way back. It’s a cute place to eat with locally-sourced healthy foods, Cait’s café.

We caught some beautiful sunsets in Kincardine looking west over this massive body of water.

This week found us back on our home Lake Erie, watching a super-moon rise one day and letting Rufus have a good swim and romp on another.

I feel so very blessed to be so close to these immense bodies of water and have all these beautiful beaches outside my front door! More about our trip when I write my monthly gratitude post, which will be next Thursday.

In other words news, I aim to have my next pattern out tomorrow. This one was published in Love of Quilting last summer, called Tinker Toys. As usual, there is more than one project included. Here is a view of the cushion aka pillow cover back.

See you tomorrow!

I wholeheartedly appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, as they make my day! I answer every one by personal email. :-) Unless... you are a "no-reply" blogger, which can occur for a few reasons. You can get around that by writing out your email within your comment so that I can answer you.
