I’ll admit I was a little disappointed that I did not get the pattern totally together for yesterday’s post in my annual QAL. However, in retrospect, I think this is better, so that it gets its own post, and it includes a third quilt!
My original thought for the cover shot was to get this quilt under a magnolia tree, which are at their peak right now. However, when we were tootling around the little town of Essex this past week, which is just 15 km from my little town of Kingsville, we spied the old train station. It is a beautiful old building and made for a great backdrop, we thought.
However, I spied the old train car off to the side of the station, and thought it might be a cool backdrop because the faded colour of the train car was pretty close to the coral in my quilt. Little did I realize, until I looked at the shots my husband had taken, that the emerald green grass was the exact colour of the green plaid star points! A win for sure.
Here I am with my quilt, a habit I’m starting to get into, thanks to Yvonne, of Quilting Jetgirl, that of taking a photo of myself with my quilt.
| I only wish either my husband or I had realized the bottom of the quilt is folded over. |
We are making this version in the currently ongoing quilt along, and it’s not too late to join. I had mentioned a possibility of eliminating some star points and creating a moon shape behind the stars in a previous post, which Wendy did, and then hinted at a an even cooler version, which I then decided needed to be a part of the pattern, which meant the planned release was delayed by a day and a half! Worth it, though, imho, as I always try to give a good bang for the buck in my patterns.
This one is on sale for jut $9CA until Monday evening. Full disclosure: the quilt you see me holding is the free quilt along on my blog.
A shot of the back cover to the pattern, with that third quilt at the bottom of the chart! It makes me squeal, and was inspired by an email from Rose of somethingrosemade about a tribute to Artemis II, using the logo colours.
I’ve got it all cut out; just need some concentrated sewing time (good luck with this monkey around). She often grabs a stick on our walks, and will carry it for some time. Yesterday, however, I took her for a 4 km walk at a pretty good clip, and it was fairly warm and sunny, so she was hot, and at the corner of our street she collapsed on this lawn to have a little chew! I could just hear her in my head, “Can you please carry me the rest of the way?”
You can get your copy of the pattern at this link!
