The background is a white with line-drawn grey flowers that are very similar to those in the coral print, though the white is not in this line. I drew the block in EQ8 and then popped in similar colours to those that I had so I could play with placement. I wanted the four small floral stars to not be too prominent so I treated that floral as a second background. I used my Wonder Triangle rulers by Marti Michell for the coral spiky star points and drew a template (no ink for my printer) for the green star points. The quilt top came together quickly, and got my friend Tish's approval.
For the backing I found a big L-shaped chunk of leftover Mabon by Benartex, trimmed part of the extra-long left side of the L, inset it in the gap to make a square but had to add in some leftover blue dot to make it just big enough. Loaded it onto Avril and off I went, quilting it up with a beautiful Coats & Clark polyester variegated thread in soft pastels.

| The Benartex fabric works really well with the coral on the front! |
Lots of stitching in the ditch, some ruler work, small loop-dee-loops in the white/grey background, and wavy lines in the spiky star points. Fun. Three more or less straight lines in the blue borders.
I love that softly-striped binding. I bought a yard of it, whereas the others are/were all half yard pieces. I have it in green too, as well as the coral and green small floral in turquoise and blue, so I may put them with a few others to make a second version during my quilt along.
I laid it on the deck in the gorgeous late afternoon sunshine to show the quilting better.

Then on the deck!
It such a cheery little quilt! I plan to make another variation during my quilt along that emphasizes the circular effect in the quilt. If you're thinking of joining in the QAL, see my previous post for the details. It's free, a slow pace, and the design is great for those half yard chunks you may have kicking around your stash. This will probably go in my Etsy shop as I think it's a great little baby quilt.
