DrEAMi! #31

Yikes! Here I go again, not realizing it's Saturday, the last one of the month, and that means it's time to celebrate those moments when we Dropped Everything And Made it! over the course of the past month. I should've scheduled this one as I have with the past several, so this slipping my mind thing doesn't happen!

Well, part of my excuse is that I had a DrEAMi! of a non-sewing, but quilting related kind over the past two days: putting my nose to the grindstone (for both entire days) and focussing solely on finishing my Oh, the Places You'll Go! pattern for the quilt I made in January for Island Batik.
It is ready to go. I'll pop back to this post with the listing deets once I give it one last 'fresh eyes this morning' perusal and list it on Etsy.

I was out of the country for the July DrEAMi! and the first half of August so I didn't get a chance to visit the linkups but I did have a look over the past several days, and here are three that are tantalizing:
Santa in the Woods by Frédérique of Quilting Patchwork Appliqué
I just love it! It reminds me of a Santa mini quilt I made years ago where there is a triangle Santa.

It is spooky how we are often on the same wavelength in QBL. I've found this in the Design Challenge I host each year. Each of us is busy designing, islands in the stream of quilt design, but that stream is, in my mind anyhow, a stream of consciousness/creativity that we are each tapping into, and sometimes designs that are so eerily similar emerge within hours or a couple of days of each other! So here is another example, another triangle quilt with the exact design of my triangle Santa that Frédérique's quilt reminded me of, and based on triangles as well!
Pink Lemonade by Diann of Little Penguin Quilts
Do you see the 'santas'?? I love these colours of this true DrEAMi! project.

And because I just love house quilts/blocks, this one immediately caught my eye/fancy.
Christmas Village by Tracie of Riceford Streams
Isn't it darling? And it is the quintessential DrEAMi! where as she says, "However, when I sat down at my sewing machine to construct the pillow, a squirrel ran across my path." That's exactly what happens with these squirrels right?

I think you may have seen my other sort-of squirrel, my two more scraps boxes I just had to finish up, even though I should be working on Brady's quilt and my Island Batik quilt...

The green one was the first squirrel, back in March. I've made panels for five more, but haven't quilted them, until they sat up and frisked their whiskers and flicked their tails at me a week ago... You can read about the red and the yellow ones here.

Okay what's been flicking its tail at you in August? Link up below!

  1. So I've had a few squirrels this month, and I'll link up soon. I need to finish the last squirrel today, as he come frolicking into my quilt plans at the last minute. I need to go find your Etsy page!

  4. Hi Sandra! Happy last day of August. I had plans to have my squirrel project all quilted today, but I am just not happy with how the quilting is going. I'm even going to pick it out! Uggg. So no finished squirrel for me, but I shared the pattern for it anyway. I'm ready to move on to September and football season. Next week starts regulation football, so you've got to get Brady's quilt finished! And I know you will. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Sandra, thanks for featuring my little tablerunner! I didn't even think of those triangles in the same way as the Santa, but now you've got my wheels turning! I've been playing with a Dreami project this week, just haven't written it up yet, but I'll enjoy seeing what others have been up to.

  7. Whoop, whoop! You finished your pattern! That’s a huge accomplishment. Does applying for a job out of the blue and getting hired count as a squirrel? Life is crazy like that for me :-)

  8. Hi Sandra, I really love those baskets. Are they for your scraps? I know that I read one of the posts...I think I'll go back to have a look. Did you have good holidays?
    All the best,

  9. No squirrel from me this month but I’ve loved seeing what everyone is making!
As a serial bag maker I loved Kathleen’s bag but for some reason my comment wouldn’t work there.
    Hugs,

I wholeheartedly appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, as they make my day! I answer every one by personal email. :-) Unless... you are a "no-reply" blogger, which can occur for a few reasons. You can get around that by writing out your email within your comment so that I can answer you.
