To Do Tuesday and OMG

This post was written on the weekend. I thought I'd see how I did with the heart blocks before scheduling it for Tuesday (yesterday)... then thought I'd add my OMG, but I just didn't get my act together to post and link yesterday so here I am today.

I have a day planner; I was a teacher for 30 years where a planner was essential, and a diary and journal keeper since I was 11 years old so keeping records is an essential part of my being. One of the main reasons I started this blog is to record my projects and my life. I do a weekly list, and a daily one to keep me on track. (How do I still go off the rails you, and I myself, am asking... no clue really.) MacGyver thinks I'm a nut for being mostly retired and still doing this but I love routine and organization so planners I will continue to buy. And, write each week in a different coloured pretty pen. 😇 I'm finding that writing a blog post and linking up with Roseanne at Home Sewn by Us is kind of fun, and actually helped me STAY focused this week, when I really really wanted, and even started, to make a summer dress with some Island Batik rayon... but I read the pattern, found a zipper that will do, and made myself turn to the Island Batik June quilt instead because I have to confess here right?!

First up on the list was Sheila's kaleidoscope cushion and it is done and was mailed out on Friday.
I thought it looked so good in our willow chair, the miniature lilac from my friend Liz in memory of my mum in the background.

So here is the entire list from last week:
1. Finish the kaleidoscope cushion and blog it (the plan is for a Friday finish)✅
2. Write up my I Like/Love post for Thursday and the DrEAMi post for Saturday✅
3. Get blocks made for my June Island Batik project✓
A small check because all seven of the 12" ones are done, but just one of the eight 6" ones.
My pink RSC project #1 blocks are growing as I make them between these blue heart blocks.

4. Make my 12 orange blocks for the 9-patch RSC project✅

5. Long shot: get Spring Stars ready for Yvonne - nope, though I spent several hours on it, and it is very very close. I did get Centred sent to her and it's finished and ready for release!
6. Long shot: start work on the cat mats for this quarter✅
WOOT WOOT! They are both DONE and blogged on Monday. Another one off my Q2FAL List!

For next week:
1. Finish June Island Batik quilt top and get it ready to quilt.
2. Quilt Centred and write the post.
3. Make the 12 pink Weeks & Ringle RSC blocks.
4. Figure out yardage and order it for two secret sewing upcoming quilts.

OMG

Finish my pink scraps sorting box.

After making the bottom for my orange box out of scraps, I decided to continue that with all the future ones. A surprise was opening the ziploc bag and finding I'd set some of these on some batting scraps ready to quilt.

  1. I'm drooling over your pink scraps, Sandra! Always so fun to see what you're working on. Sheila's cushion really does look wonderful on that chair in your backyard, too!

  3. So much about that second paragraph could have written about ME! ... planner... diary/journal since a girl... colored pens... record keeping... lists... an essential part of my very being... :)

  4. Loving your pink crumb/slab blocks for your scrap basket! One of those is on my list for June also!

  5. Those pink blocks are sure some pretty eye candy. I think I've tried using a planner for quilting a few times. It didn't work out so well, as I kept forgetting to write in it or read what I did wrote.

  6. Hi Sandra! I am so happy you are joining in with the to-do lists. I am afraid I am in the planner category with you. I, too, started writing in a journal when I was 11 and have kept a planner ever since. Oooh, writing in different colored pens - now that's special!! I love going in the office store and checking out pens, etc. You did great on your list for last week. I love the hearts for the June IB project. But I am especially in love with the scraps for your next basket. That is going to be a gorgeous addition to the others. Thanks for linking up. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  7. Love all of your projects. I use all of those organizing tools as well but sometimes life’s unexpected challenges just seem to get in the way.

  8. I could definitely run away with your pink scraps - I love pink. Hated it when I was a girl and would never wear it now I love it. In fact my hair was pink for a couple of weeks recently because if you can't do it during lockdown just when can you do it :-)

  9. I love planners but the epidemic and a few other experiences have taught me what I really need is a journal for lists....keep an overall one on one side, detailed one on the other, it works pretty well. Everything else I was fighting. Glad Centred is done as a pattern. I have one I need to release but not in a big rush, thinking around the 15th of the month or the 1st of July....

  10. Never could journal. I make lists when I feel things are out of control and that helps me to get started. Then the list gets misplaced but I soldier on doing what I really wanted to do, not what needed doing! LOL! Love all the color in your quilting room. Hmm, I quit making clothes for me because they never looked that good when I was done. I admire anyone who is willing to spend the time making their own clothes. Have a great week.

  11. I love planners too, I don't always follow what I write but it helps me not forget things. Great pillow!

  12. I like the planners, for about a month. And then I forget to use them. I do much better with my computer. You made good progress last week. Hopefully you've already marked off a thing or two from this week's list.

  14. I have to have a planner, too! I use mine for meal planning, keeping my to-dos (that never all get done, but at least I don't forget many), appts, etc. I write in it, and everything else I write, with a pen that my grandmother gave me for my high school graduation back in '95. I've bought dozens of the ink refills over the years and would be so lost without it. Nothing ever seems to write as nicely. Your pink scrap basket is coming along so nicely. And yay for having Centered ready for release and another pattern almost ready for editing :)

  15. It looks like you are farther ahead in the PINK scrap box thing than I am. Happy finishing!
