Luminous Layers Quilt Along Final Parade!

It never ceases to amaze me when we hit June 15: in some ways it has arrived in a blink, and in others it seems forever since it was my birthday, April 3, when the QAL started. But here we are, and the quilt parade also never ceases to amaze me.

Not to mention excites me with anticipation and thrills me with the beauties that have been made!

Let's review the fabulous prizes from my lovely sponsors first.

Northcott is my main sponsor. They supplied the fabric for the quilt I made along with everyone, and they are offering a fabric bundle of the Stonehenge Gradations fabrics I used for my quilt.

Canuck Quilter Designs is offering one winner a free PDF pattern of their choice.

Devoted Quilter is offering one winner their choice of two PDF patterns.

Quilting Jetgirl is offering a $24 coupon to her shop.

Quilty Zest is offering one winner a free PDF pattern of their choice.

Make Modern is offering a 6-month magazine subscription.

Hobbs Batting is offering a batt of their Tuscany wool batting to a US winner. They are also supplying the batting for the quilt I will be making with you.

Sew Fresh Quilts is offering a $50 gift certificate to her shop.

Stitchin' at Home is offering one winner their choice of two PDF patterns.

Quiltinator is offering free longarm quilting services of one quilt, up to 70” x 90”. The quilter must supply their own batting and send their quilt to Gale within six months of June 15.

Meadow Mist Designs is offering two winners their choice of two PDF patterns.

Zipper Valley (new sponsor this year!) is offering a $45 gift card to their store.

Mad About Patchwork has been a sponsor of several of my QALs as well as the two Postcard from Sweden QALs I hosted (psst! they have kits at a terrific price for it) and they are back this year with a $50 gift card to their shop!

mmmquilts (that's me!) is offering two winners their choice of a free PDF pattern.

Fat Quarter Shop has been a past sponsor a couple of times, and they're back this year with a $25 gift certificate to their online shop.

Just fabulous, would you not agree?

All right, let's get the parade parading. I will write a separate post for my own finish and link it up here.

I do hope you will remember these generous businesses when you are shopping for quilty stuff.

Today would have been my dad's 98th birthday. I remember when he turned 50, how ancient that seemed to us four kids. Even though it has been 16 years since he died, I still miss him: our coffee dates, his sense of humour, his twinkly green eyes when he teased us, how wonderful a grandpa he was. I do see my own mortality these days, now in my early 60s, so I try to make the most of every day and be grateful for oh, so many things that surround me and are in my life.

The parade linkup is open all week long, until next Saturday at midnight, so do not fret if you haven't got your quilt finished (here's looking at me) because you have an entire week to quilt it up. In the meantime why not visit some of the links below for quilting inspiration if, like so many of us, that is your stumbling block to finishing quilts?

Also, finished quilts or finished tops qualify for prizes. If you don’t blog or do Instagram or Facebook, no worries! Simply email me a photo of your quilt top or finished quilt and I will post it for you. Here is Rochelle’s. For some reason it cropped it weirdly off my Instagram post I did for her. She is another longtime participant, just truly warms my heart.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  6. I had seen these popping up lately and really admire the variety in them. What a neat way for you to honor yourself and your memory of your dad. I’ve missed your other posts about the QAL because I’ve been a social media dropout lately. Time to fix that. Have fun at your linky party!!
