Pets On Quilts! I'm nearing the deadline, and tried very hard to encourage Naala to be in a post about HER on one of my quilts. Rocco? no prob...Bella? Well, as you have seen, time and time again, it's all about Bella, and her "Cats rule. Dogs drool," philosophy, a quote from her guru, Sassy, from "Home Alone". But this is about Naala! She is entering into Dogs On Quilts.
 |
Ya I'm one cool cat. Wait.....one cool canine! |
She makes infrequent appearances in my blog, but I want her to be in the Pets On Quilts show this year. She'll do anything... Any. Thing. For food.
 |
Seriously, Sandra? I'm so over this trick... |
She left a little collateral damage after that set up...
 |
Oopsie |
She adores, dotes on, is over the moon about, my husband. When he is gone, she is sad.
The sun rises and sets on him, and like a sun-deprived person, she goes into withdrawal and depression when he leaves her behind. (Don't worry
Julie, your cushion was only on the floor for a couple of minutes for the staged photo shoot!)
 |
I love pillows. LOVE. If I keep this sad demeanor up, think she'll let me on the bed where I can lie on my master's pillow? |
She also loves her babies. Outside of one or two good chomps to make them squeak when she first gets one of them in the morning (she woofs and dances and jumps a little in front of the fridge, no, not for food, for a baby that is on top of the fridge), she takes such good care of them.
 |
I love my cow. You're not taking him away already, are you? |
Maybe once in a while they get a little munching around an ear, or the butt, especially if there is a tag there. She's had a tag fetish since we first got her at 11 weeks old. Sometimes some stuffing gets pulled out...
 |
Yeah, yeah, Bird is a little anorexic these days, I know. It's partly Rocco's fault. Look at my Rudy! He's like brand new! Well, maybe a tad stiff, dried, slobbery, but still-- |
Rocco kills every stuffy he's ever had.
He killed Santa this past Christmas. But this post is about the calm dog.
 |
The ONE time I allowed a (barf) feline, our previous cat, Cleo, to share a quilt--I was young, only 1 1/2 years old. I'm not so calm when it comes to "that cat" (I totally agree with Sandra's mum, blechh) Bella. Blechhh. |
|
She looks amazing today, at 8 1/2 years old.
 |
Clearly I have Pug in my family line, a ways back. |
I really do...
 |
See? I can twist and turn my head both ways! |
Naala weighs 95-100 pounds, so this shows you just how humongous the banana plants have gotten!
That scrunched up quilt is the current quilt, at the time of writing this, it is finishing drying spread out on the floor. At the time of the photo this morning, it still didn't have its binding finished hand-stitching down. Aiming for a Friday finish post tomorrow! Did I mention I work well under pressure?!
If you haven't done so yet, after reading
Bella's entry (she's #34) for Pets On Quilts, scamper, canter, trot on over to
Lily Pad Quilting for the show. That link takes you to all 58 entries. Naala is #57. Voting starts tomorrow! The post for where you vote is
here. Thanks so much Jacque for hosting this so-much-fun linky!
Yay Sandra! You got Naala in just in time!
ReplyDeleteShe sure does not look her age - more like a young Rottie. I guess she proved Bella's point about dogs Drool, LOL. Wonderful pictures! The one of Naala missing MacGuyver really pulls at my heartstrings.
PS - Love the sunglasses! Cool shades in the shade, LOL
DeleteLOVE this post!! Hi Naala!! (instruct human to give good belly rub!) The sunglasses are very stylish but that picture of her laying her head on the pillow??!! Heart melting!!! Congrats on getting this post in just under the wire!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, those eyes! She seems like a sweetheart. She really does not look her age, and that is starting to be up there for a dog that size. I also agree with Lara - the first photo with the sunglasses is awesome. She really will do just about anything for food / a treat, huh? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetheart. My Jack loves his babies, too. He pounces on his toy basket every night after his dinner and gives several of them a good shaking and squeaking. It is such fun to watch. Naala is a wonderful quilt model.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Naala made an appearance. What a sweetie she is!
ReplyDeleteA great post about Naala. Abbey has a milk crate full of babies that had survived her 10 years of loving that is until little Miss Katie came on the scene. The babies are not holding up so well. Do your dogs have their own quilts or a blanket? Katie ate a large hole in an antique quilt on the couch so she is not allowed near any of mine until she can be trusted. Naala looks like she is a sweetheart.

ReplyDeleteOh Naala is beautiful (tho I've never seen apug with thosemarkings lol or one that large-the pug must be waaaay back in the family tree) :) she makes me think of my 100 lb babies from long ago - such sweet dogs and those eyebrows...
ReplyDeleteI like the trick-for-the-treat photo, that's impressive! You have a very clever household, those guys can really work it :)

She is a great quilt model - amazing job showing them off so well! Our Charly destroys toys in less than 15mins unless they are Tuffy toys - really expnsive but we have 1 that's 14 months old - a record!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dog! I also love the sunglasses photo. The one with her head on the pillow is also adorable.
ReplyDeleteYour post is the BEST!! Love it. Where do you vote? I couldn't find a link anywhere.
ReplyDeleteWow I wouldn't have thought Naala was 8.5 yrs, looking good!! She's a sweetie :-) Maybe you will have to have your DH use the quilt a while to get his scent on it and then wrap Naala up in it when DH is gone so she smells him and thinks he is around!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet little face on my pillow! I mean your pillow! Nala deserved her moment in the spotlight today and rocked those sunglasses, but couldn't outshine her props. Lovely quilts you make, Sandra.
ReplyDeleteShe's really beautiful, I wondered why you hid babies on top of the fridge, we have the same problem here, a lover and a ripper.
ReplyDeleteNaala looks great! Love that first photo. Monkey loves them all.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine trying to get a dog to keep sunglasses on. Nice quilts but the plants are incredible. You must have been born with a green thumb as well as a thimble on one finger!
ReplyDeleteSuch great shots. Hard to choose a favorite. You certainly have a photogenic helper.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight to meet Naala ! Her sweet personality comes through your lovely post. I love her photos, and especially the "sad" one with her head on Julie's pillow , all covered up under a quilt!!
ReplyDeleteSusie
Love that quilt that Naala oopsied on. Is that in your archive somewhere? Love the dog too!

Pretty girl! If I try to bribe with treats, I just end up with blurry jumpy pics! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love Naala ❤. Stylish sunglasses!
ReplyDeleteWhat's that collateral damage she left? Part of her treat?
I love Naala's expressions.
ReplyDeleteNaala is a very pretty dog!
ReplyDeleteVof Naala! You are a pretty girl and wrote a great post! Beautiful photos and your mom makes beautiful quilts! x Nero
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos, I love the sunglasses! Naala is a lucky girl to get to lay on these beautiful quilts.
ReplyDeleteNaala is a perfect model on your beautiful quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteNaala rocks!! Love the sunglasses - you have totally got it!
ReplyDeleteCute post, cute pup and quilts, beautiful background.
ReplyDeleteShe is a sweet heart! How did you get her to wear the sunglasses long enough to take a picture? What a good girl.
