DrEAMi #40

Ah the lovely month of May, what is that rhyme about the darling buds.... Welcome to another month of celebrating all DrEAMi! projects. Drop Everything And Make it!

Wendy of Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life sent me a link to an article that had this video within it. She got it from Suzy Webster. I got it off YouTube, and found out the guy has a channel, and if you are a physics/science/engineering buff, you may just want to follow this dude...

Last month again there were some lovely lovely quilts. Thirteen squirrel chasers linked up! That makes me happy. I was not a good squirrel chaser this month; I actually have been staying pretty much on-topic, and ticking off items on the lengthy FAL list.

Cindy of Stitchin at Home shared this breathtaking beauty she created. I do believe it is the most stunning incredible DrEAMi yet. It is her first whole cloth quilt. That feather looks real.
Note: I always choose my features once the linky party has ended and I've visited everyone's posts. I start the next month's DrEAMi post and pop in two or three quilts that strike me. So this was chosen almost a month ago, and I only opened the post to finish it up Friday evening...This one is particularly poignant that I chose it, that Cindy created it, the message within it, and that such a deep sadness happened to her just a few weeks ago: she lost her husband very suddenly. Isn't there something about finding feathers after the loss of a loved one? That they're messages? This is such an exquisite quilt; you must read about the making of it, her first (wow!) whole cloth quilt.

I love Quilting & Learning: What a Combo! Andrée's Bubble Up quilt and how she quilted it: with a double spiral!

Here is a quintessential DrEAMi from Kathleen at Kathleen McMusing; she quite literally dropped everything she should have been doing, and made this from design in EQ8 to finished (and entered but not accepted, drat, into Curated Quilts) minimalist mini!

So! What squirrels ran the gauntlet in your sewing room?! Link up below.

  1. That feather quilt is amazing. However, I must admit to squandering 20+ minutes watching the squirrel video. What a hoot! Twenty minutes, might I add, that were supposed to be spent making a half hearted attempt at cleaning up the mess in my sewing room.

  2. The ninja squirrel vid is a riot! Poor Gus! The feather quilt is amazingly beautiful and delicate. Yes, looks like a real feather. I enjoyed revisiting the other two features, too. Thanks for hosting the party, Sandra.

  9. Hi Sandra! WOW. Wow. WOW. That feather piece just gives me the chills. I will go read about Cindy and offer my condolences. The squirrel ninja course is just amazing. Although I think he may have just a wee too much time on his hands. Thanks for the link up! I'm sorry I don't have anything to share this month. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  10. So I went for a bike ride, and then thought I'd just check out your blog post before taking a shower. That was a loooong time ago, because I just could not look away from the squirrel video. Squirrel squirrel!

  11. hahahaha, great video, I have loved that youtuber since the glitter bomb parcels, as do my kids. I haven't been keeping an eye on his channel lately, so thanks for that - I've watched it once by myself and again this morning with the kids. I could have made a Dreami in that time.... nah, who am I kidding? Thanks for the laughs and the pointer to that amazing feather quilt, so inspiring in a different way. Only secret squirrel business over here this month, so nothing to share today, sorry. Thanks for the great post.

  13. That feather is incredible! I did visit the maker and told her so. I've only watched part of the ninja squirrel video; I want to show it to my husband so I stopped so we could watch it together. What I saw was hilarious!

  14. I saw the squirrel video just yesterday and laughed so much. I love how he learns to really admire the little devils. And lately I've just been admiring everyone else's squirrel projects. That feather is divine; quite possibly literally divine. Poor Cindy.
