Centred QAL - Construction: Block B

I am loving seeing the beautiful colour combos going on for the Centred QAL! It never gets old, seeing one's own design come alive in others' creations. This week there is a link up for showing off your first eight blocks of the quilt. It will be open for the entire week, so no rush.

This week we are making four Block B.

There is a hashtag pool for the quilt along too, which is a great way to see what others are up to. It is #centredquiltalong

Block B is the exact mirror image of Block A. Therefore, construct it just as you did Block A but you will add rectangles to the left side and the top side of the centre unit.

1. Select four of the units from Step 1 last week that have the seams pressed away from centre. Sew a 3 1/2 x 1 1/2" navy rectangle to the left side of each unit. Press the seam away from the centre.

Sew a 3 1/2 x 1 1/2" navy rectangle to the top of the unit from Step 1.

2. Continue adding rectangles to the left side and the top of the block, pressing the seams outward to ensure nesting of seams. Your block should measure 10 1/2". Make four.

If you refer to last week's placement diagram, you will see that two Block A and two Block B form the centre floating complete log cabin block. Do not sew these together yet though.

If you want the HTML code for the QAL button, it is in the Schedule and Sponsors post. Speaking of sponsors, I thought I'd give a shout-out to the two shops who are sponsoring this quilt along.
Have you seen the camper amid the trees pattern from Pen and Paper at Mad About Patchwork? I saw it on Instagram, so adorable. They have lots of good greens for trees too, I hear...

And be sure to visit Bernie's shop, Needle & Foot Fine Fabrics to check out some of her new fabrics just in from Art Gallery. May I just say bari j? 😍

Here are my first eight blocks:

If you check my Instagram post you'll see the elusive photo bomber first shot.
All right; let's see half of your quilt blocks! Link up below!

  1. This is the perfect distraction to get our minds in focus with a delight, rather than the virus details and updates. Tomorrow, I can put my mind to the B Blocks, a free day ,as the dreaded housework was done ( sort of done) today!!! I am so enjoying this.

  4. Hi Sandra! Block B already - yippee. I'm still playing in EQ8 with the fabric bundles I've 'saved'. This is going to be so pretty and fun to work on. ~smile~ Roseanne

  5. OMG, I did it! I have to give credit to Patty at Elm Street Quilts for her explicit directions on how to link up an Instagram post. Now to get on with Block B.

I wholeheartedly appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, as they make my day! I answer every one by personal email. :-) Unless... you are a "no-reply" blogger, which can occur for a few reasons. You can get around that by writing out your email within your comment so that I can answer you.
