Postcard from Sweden Quilt Along Final Parade!

In some ways it seems forever ago (January) that I announced that I was going to host another PfS QAL and in other ways, I can't believe it's mid-March, the Ides of March... and time to show off our finishes!

Instagram has been lit up with a rainbow of gorgeousness. I know I've really been enjoying seeing everyone's progress. Be sure to check out the hashtag #postcardfromswedenqal2022 if you feel like brightening your day! Today is the day we show off our finished quilts (finished flimsies are welcome too) and today is the day to enter the drawing for some fabulous grand prizes.

Over the past two months, we've shared our progress, some tips, and quilting ideas. We've seen variations on the design, from following the colour layout to doing random layouts, from limiting the colour palette to using prints, from adding another row or two to adding a border. There are 130 posts in the hashtag pool! Despite a few grinches, it's been an absolutely wonderful time sewing along with you, and lighting up my days with splashes of rainbow colour. So thank you! Thanks for your commitment, your perseverance, for those for whom this was quite daunting (give yourself an extra pat on the back, Trixbrat for one!) and for those who shared their own little "aha!" moments that helped others. I've met some new people and that's always a good thing!

Thank you SO much to both Mad About Patchwork and CaliQuiltCo for being so ready to sponsor this QAL with such sweet gift cards, and for cutting and cutting and cutting some more, kits for people to make this quilt. I do believe they still have some available, and at $99 that's a suh-weet deal, just sayin'. Know that I don't get any compensation from them, nor did they supply my fabrics; I bought them. But please consider supporting them in your future purchases. Both shops have excellent prices and good (and fast) shipping deals.

Thank you again to Tracie for asking me way back last autumn if I would ever consider hosting another QAL for Postcard from Sweden because there was this kit that was a really good price...😍💖

You have two things to do to qualify for the grand prizes:

1. Be sure to link up your finished quilt or finished quilt top (either are eligible) below, and then

2. be sure to enter the Rafflecopter for your chance at the three pretty sweet prizes. I matched the $50 gift cards by offering five patterns of your choice from my Etsy Shop, Sandra Jane Quilts.

Note: I'm asking for your province/state in the Rafflecopter so I can be sure to send the US gift card to a US resident and the Canadian gift card to a Canadian (shipping/Customs reasons). If you are from another country and you win, you'll get whatever one the Rafflecopter picks.

I will leave the linkup open for a full week (actually 7.5 days since this post is only going live at noon EST) so that gives everyone some wiggle room to maybe quilt up your quilt if you have just the top finished, or do the final push to get that top together. If you were a keener (looking at you Stephanie!) and made two quilts, be sure to link up posts for each quilt!

If you do not have a blog or Instagram, simply email me a photo of your finished quilt or top, and I'll post it to Instagram for you, or if I already have done that, then email me to remind me, and I'll link it up for you. I can't be going back through the 130 posts to find everyone, so the onus is on you to give me a heads up!

On last note for those who may have missed yesterday's post of my own quilt, and who were wondering about the smashing background I used 😉 it is called 'Smashing Atoms' and it's at Connecting Threads (affiliate link). It's a wide backing (yasss) and it's actually on sale for 20% off I just discovered!

Let the parade begin!

  4. Fantastic with all those colours. I've been thinking of doing this quilt, and now it took me no time to jump in, so fun. Thank you for hosting this QAL.

  5. I luv, luv luv all the color. Congrats to all those who participated. It was really helpful to do this as a QAL several years ago.

  7. Hi
Thank you for hosting this QAL! Despite a desperate push this weekend, I still have three rows to go, so won't be submitting a picture, but I enjoyed myself, and the QAL was the push I needed to actually start this quilt. Thanks again.
