Hands2Help

Today is the final day to show your quilts for Sarah's Confessions of a Fabric Addict Hands2Help charity quilt drive. This is one of the quilts on my Q2FAL list.

I have one of my two almost ready (just needs binding) to be dropped off for Syrian refugees coming to Canada, who are making a new home in the Windsor area.

the back

As you may recall, Brady spent the Mother's Day weekend with us, all by himself. Bittersweet, because of what was happening back in Alberta...  He was about as willing a quilt holder as his grandpa!

My other quilt will once again be going to the Windsor Sexual Assault Centre, specified for a child. I also plan to make a top for Victoria's Quilts Canada. These will happen once I am back home. I have had to make an unexpected and heartbreaking trip out to Alberta because of the sudden passing of my mum, who loved my blog, was so proud of me, and loved my quilts. She loved quilts, period, but especially cherished mine. How I will miss forwarding her blog posts, and photos, Instagram posts, etc, of some of my readers and some of those I follow that I know she would love. Here are two of the big ones I made her (there are multiple smaller ones) and the two she requested I make a couple of years ago, for her brother and sister-in-law, who she now joins in the afterlife. There we are, a proud new nana (me) and nanny (her) of 1-day-old Brady.

Here is an update of the finished quilt:

  3. My condolences on the passing of your mother. It's something I think we are never ready for. This past Mother's Day I was thinking of my late mother and of my many friends who have lost their mothers. Daughters without Mothers, it's a "club" none of us want to be in. I wish you peace at this difficult time.

  28. Oh, Sandra, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. What a tough year it has been. Losing my mom was one of the hardest things ever. You are so strong, and I know there is an inner peace and strength that will get you through it. If I can host/do something for you for your blog, let me know. I am glad Brady was able to hold up those quilts- so cute - even if he’s not so willing. Please do not respond unless you need me to help. I will keep you and yourus in my thoughts and prayers.

There is nothing I could possibly say that would make it any easier, but know that all of us are wishing we could. We all will understand if you need time - take as much as you need. 35. I can't believe I missed this post, of all the posts to not see last week.... Sandra, I'm so very very saddened to read your news. I imagine your mum was as much like you in beautiful spirit as she was in looks, and I am certain she will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to you at this devastating time, I hope that your family will find some solace in each other and your memories as you adjust. Wishing, like many, that we could do more than send condolences and virtual hugs from the other end of the earth. Take care, xx

  36. I, too, am behind reading my favorite blogs and missed reading this. Sandra, my heart breaks for you as I read and contemplated about your heartbreaking trip to say goodbye to your mum. I have yet to experience that but know that it must be a very difficult time. Hopefully, you know that your blogging friends are thinking of you from the previous comments and that we all care about you. Your pic of you and your mom is precious. You sure do resemble her.

  37. Sending you lots of love, hugs and warm wishes. You have been in my thoughts. Glad to see that you are back and blogging again. They say time is a healer, but action (getting back into the swing of things) is a huge help.
