The Great Outdoors Island Batik Blog Hop Week 3

Are you ready for another round of beautiful batik fabrics, and inspiring projects to showcase them? I know I sure am! I am officially back from blog-cation. As with any vacation, it went in a flash and I did not get as much accomplished as I'd thought I would. Still, it was nice to have no pressure to write or even read blogs, and if I did read, to not leave comments. (gasp!) Who puts these pressures on anyhow? Moi...😲
My turn comes up Wednesday! See below for another sneak peek at the quilt's progression. Remember there is a fabulous giveaway on Island Batik's blog, as well as at each blogger's stop.

You know how much I love to quilt feathers. This quilt asked for some, so I said, I dunno; I'm planning on selling this one.... But the quilt won out. They usually do.
Black is so hard to photograph, not to mention try to quilt, with black thread! I saw that the early morning light was just right from the window with no overhead lights on to capture the quilting: organic leaves here à la Kathy Sandbach, feathers à la Kathleen Quilts.

Hope to see you back on Wednesday! There will be a giveaway here on my blog as well!

Each week of the hop you will find five different newly released fabric collections from Island Batik showcased in projects. The name of each collection is in pink italics, and the blogs to visit who are showcasing the collection are beside it. Have fun, get inspired, and good luck in the giveaways! the past two weeks' links are below Week 3.

In other news, Avril had her spa day which didn't take long at all, and yes, it was her timing, so she's good to go now. That was such a wonderful day trip to Chatham, to The Quilting Studio, with lunch at Mama Maria's on the Thames River, and a side trip to North Buxton, a town where escaped and freed slaves could own their own land, build homes, have their children educated, and build a good life, what all humans deserve and have a right to. There are more photos on my Instagram, but I found a quilt in an 1850 log cabin!
Of course I'd sniff one out. And it's a log cabin quilt, in an authentic log cabin! Love it.

Happy hopping!

  8. Hi Sandra! I just discovered the issue of quilting black-on-black - I got very close to stitching on top of previous quilting. Glad you are back but sorry your fun vacay is over.
